Senior Software Developer - Platform Utilities & Upgrades (PU&U)
Do you want to make the world a safer place while being part of a team that truly values experience and collaboration?
Would you like to join a global and technically skilled team that plays an essential role in Verisure’s success?
The platform organisation in Malmö develops and operates the software that underpins Verisure's alarm and smart home systems. We are responsible for the services that keep millions of connected devices online, upgradeable, and traceable, from the moment a device is manufactured until it is returned or decommissioned.
About the role
As a Senior Software Developer in Platform Utilities & Upgrades (PU&U), you will join a team of around 11 backend engineers building and operating a portfolio of internal platform services. These cover device lifecycle management (factory provisioning, firmware upgrades, SIM management) and internal operator and support tooling used daily by Verisure technicians and administrators. Several of these services run with 24/7 SLA requirements; device provisioning and support tooling are business-critical, always-on parts of the platform.
You will design, build, and operate microservices spanning device lifecycle management, SIM connectivity, firmware/upgrade orchestration, and internal utility tooling. You will work closely with the team's Product Owner, fellow developers, and PU&U's external EMS partners to translate manufacturing and operational requirements into reliable software. You are expected to take technical ownership of parts of the system, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor less experienced developers.
Our AI journey
We are in the middle of a practical, progressive AI transformation, not chasing hype, but steadily embedding intelligence into how we build software and how we operate our platform. Our engineering teams are actively adopting AI-assisted development tools including GitHub Copilot and Claude Code, and we are rolling out a group-wide AIOps platform (built on AWS Bedrock) that already powers more than 25 use cases across 10+ countries. The device data PU&U manages, spanning millions of connected devices, is one of Verisure's core advantages in developing AI capabilities for detection, maintenance, and device operations. As a senior developer, you will have a voice in how your team adopts these tools, at a pace that makes sense.

Who are you?
We are looking for an experienced backend developer with a strong technical foundation and the confidence to take ownership of complex, business-critical services. You enjoy working in an environment with a long-term technical vision but shifting short-term priorities, and you communicate clearly with both engineering peers and non-technical stakeholders. You take pride in code quality, system reliability, and helping the team improve its ways of working.
Required:
Several years of hands-on experience as a backend software developer, ideally in a microservice/distributed systems environment
Solid experience with Java and Spring Boot
Experience with containerised deployment (Docker, Kubernetes)
Fluency in English (verbal and written)
Also, great if you have:
Experience with message-driven architecture (e.g. RabbitMQ)
Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL)
Frontend experience (React/JavaScript) is a plus, though not the core focus of the role
Familiarity with device lifecycle management, IoT connectivity, or hardware/software integration
Experience working in an environment with external hardware/manufacturing partners
AWS experience
