Define the intent. Build with AI. Own what ships. In Core Platform, you'll do it in the most complex part of the property management system that thousands of hospitality businesses worldwide run on.
The opportunityWe're rethinking how software gets built at RMS, moving towards spec-driven development where engineers define the intent and use AI agents to accelerate delivery. You'll help shape this approach within Core Platform, the most complex part of our property management system, solving challenging technical problems and influencing how we engineer at scale.
Why you'll enjoy this roleComplex problems worth solving. Tackle technical challenges across interconnected systems, services and databases.
Shape a new way of engineering. Influence how spec-driven development and AI-assisted engineering work in practice, including the standards other teams adopt.
Ownership across the stack. Work across React, C#, APIs and databases, making technical decisions and taking solutions through to production.
What you'll take on- Work with AI agents daily, writing the specifications and acceptance criteria that guide implementation, testing and refactoring.
- Own and validate AI-generated code so what reaches production is secure, tested and maintainable.
- Build and optimise features across React front ends, C# and VB.Net services, and PostgreSQL and MS-SQL databases.
- Tune queries, APIs and back-end processes so the platform stays fast as it scales.
- Shape architecture, integration patterns and testing strategy alongside design, product and fellow senior engineers.
- Mentor junior developers and help evolve our standards for AI-assisted development.
The team you'll joinYou'll sit in the Core Platform squad, reporting to the Engineering Manager, and work closely with Product Managers, Product Designers and the VP of Engineering.
What you'll bring- Experience building and maintaining complex full stack applications in C# or VB.Net and React.
- Strong PostgreSQL and MS-SQL skills: database design, query optimisation and keeping data fast and correct.
- Experience designing APIs, and familiarity with asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Solid testing habits: unit and integration testing, plus at least one automation framework such as Playwright.
- Sound engineering judgement, including validating and owning AI-generated output, and comfort with AI-assisted workflows or real motivation to adopt them.
- Clear communication about intent and trade-offs, and a genuine interest in mentoring others.
How we workEvery RMS role sits within one of our work modes, a flexible framework that is trust-based and outcomes-focused, with meaningful remote working and clear expectations about how we stay connected.
For this role, you'll work within our Metro-Anchored mode, based within commuting distance of our Melbourne office, with no fixed office days but the expectation you can come together with the team in person when it matters.
We're async-first, using Slack to share context and collaborate across time zones. We also expect everyone to build AI fluency relevant to their role, and to use it thoughtfully to improve how they work.
Life at RMSRMS is a global hospitality technology company helping operators run better businesses and create better experiences for their guests. We're ambitious about where the product and business are going, and the way we work continues to evolve alongside them.
A few things worth knowing:
- We value ownership. You'll have room to make decisions, and we expect people to take responsibility for moving things forward.
- Not everything comes with a playbook. We're continuing to improve our products, processes and ways of working. You'll sometimes need to create clarity rather than wait for it.
- We stay curious. Whether it's AI, new technology or simply a better way of solving an old problem, we want people who are willing to experiment, learn and share what works.
- We're global. You'll work with people, customers and partners across multiple regions, so thoughtful communication and collaboration matter.
- We care about outcomes. Ideas are valuable, but turning them into something that improves the experience for our customers, our teams or our business is what really counts.
And you can be yourself here. We're an equal opportunities employer, made up of people with different backgrounds, experiences, personalities and perspectives. That mix makes better ideas and better products for customers all over the world, and it means there isn't one type of person who fits at RMS.
Our values are simple: Committed to customer. Honest words, trusted actions. Push boundaries, stay curious. Own it, make it happen.
