Senior Software Developer – Python / React / TypeScript

Build Something New

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to join a small, highly capable engineering team building a new financial technology product from the ground up.

This is a genuine greenfield environment, working on software that helps companies manage important financial information and connect with their investors.

The nature of the platform means correctness, security and auditability really matter. We’re looking for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, thinks carefully about how systems and data are designed, and takes genuine ownership of the quality of what they build.

You’ll be joining a senior team where developers have significant input into technical direction, architecture and how the product evolves.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a hands‑on senior engineering role working across the product.

You’ll be involved in:

• Designing and building new product capabilities from the ground up

• Developing backend services and APIs using Python and PostgreSQL

• Building modern web applications using React and TypeScript

• Designing data models where integrity, history and auditability are critical

• Building integrations with external financial and technology platforms

• Contributing to architecture and technical design decisions

• Working with AWS infrastructure and cloud services

• Building secure, reliable and well‑tested software

• Reviewing code and contributing to engineering standards across the team

• Working closely with Product and other engineers to turn complex requirements into elegant, pragmatic solutions

• Helping establish patterns and practices that will support the product as it grows.

What You’ll Bring

We’re interested in experienced software engineers who can operate with a high degree of autonomy and contribute beyond their immediate coding tasks.

You’ll ideally have strong experience across several of the following:

• Python

• PostgreSQL

• React and TypeScript

• Docker

• AWS, including services such as EC2, ECS, S3, ELB and RDS

• API and integration development

• Relational data modelling and transactional systems

• Modern web application security

• Automated testing and CI/CD

• Domain Driven Design or similar approaches to modelling complex business domains.

Experience working with financial, investment, payments, banking or other high‑integrity transactional systems would be particularly useful, although strong engineers from other complex product environments are equally encouraged to apply.

The team is small and senior, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership.

You’ll be someone who can understand a complex problem, challenge assumptions, work through technical trade‑offs and then deliver a high‑quality solution.

What’s on Offer

The team embraces modern development practices, including AI‑assisted engineering tools, where they genuinely improve productivity. We're interested in engineers who know how to use these tools effectively while maintaining strong judgement and taking full responsibility for the quality, security and correctness of the software they produce.

You won't simply be handed tickets to implement. You'll have the opportunity to influence how the product is designed and built.

Why This Role?

There aren't many opportunities to join a senior engineering team at the beginning of a significant new product build.

You’ll get the combination of a greenfield engineering challenge, complex real‑world problems and the backing of an established financial technology business.

If you enjoy building high‑quality software, working with capable people and having meaningful influence over the technical direction of a product, we'd love to hear from you.
