Senior Quality Engineer

Summary:

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Quality Engineer with strong functional and automation testing experience. You will work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts and Developers to deliver high-quality software across web applications, APIs and integrations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining exploratory and functional testing with modern automation practices using Playwright, C#, TypeScript and BDD frameworks.

Roles and responsibilities

Test Analysis & Planning

• Analyse business requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Collaborate with Developers, Product Managers and Business Analysts throughout the delivery lifecycle
• Participate in sprint planning, story refinement and estimation sessions
• Identify test scenarios, risks and dependencies early in the development process
• Contribute to test strategy and quality improvement initiatives

Test Automation

• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites
• Build and execute automated UI and API tests
• Contribute to automation standards, best practices and framework improvements
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Support continuous testing initiatives across the SDLC

Functional & Technical Testing

• Perform Functional, System, Integration and Regression testing
• Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman and Swagger
• Execute database validation and data quality checks using SQL
• Support end-to-end testing across internal and customer-facing applications
• Assist with UAT preparation, execution and issue resolution

Quality Engineering

• Participate in root cause analysis and defect triage
• Support release validation activities
• Collaborate with developers to improve testability and quality practices
• Promote Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) principles across the team
• Contribute to a quality-first engineering culture

How to succeed

We are looking for someone with the following:

• 3+ years’ experience in a QA Engineer, Test Automation Engineer or SDET role
• Strong functional testing experience across web and API applications
• Proven experience developing automated tests using C#
• Proven experience developing automated tests using TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with Playwright
• Hands-on experience with SpecFlow (or Reqnroll)
• Strong understanding of Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD)
• Experience testing REST APIs using Postman, Swagger or similar tools
• Experience working with Git
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must have Australian working rights (citizen or PR)

Highly Desirable

Experience with the following:

• Contract testing
• Integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
• Azure DevOps
• Designing or maintaining automation frameworks
• Testing microservices and distributed systems
• Financial services, lending or fintech experience
• Working within a .NET development environment
