Contract Project Coordinator/Junior PM acting as right hand to a Programme Manager at a well-known South Island organisation in Christchurch: building schedules, tracking a sub-portfolio of smaller initiatives, and reporting on status, risks and milestones. Tools include MS Project; immediate start, running to end of December 2026.

Our client, a well-known South Island organisation, is looking for a strong Project Coordinator/Junior Project Manager to join their programme team on a initial 3 month contract, starting immediately and running through to the end of December 2026.You'll step into one of their highest-priority projects while a team member is seconded to another initiative. It's a great opportunity to work in a well-established, high-performing team and learn from experienced programme leaders.
About the Role
You'll be a trusted right hand to the Programme Manager, keeping a portfolio of smaller initiatives on track and making sure the wider team always has a clear view of progress. Your day-to-day will include:
- Building and maintaining project schedules and plans
- Coordinating a sub-portfolio of smaller initiatives, keeping track of progress and dependencies
- Monitoring and reporting on status, risks, issues and milestones
- Supporting the Programme Manager with governance, documentation and stakeholder communication
- Keeping multiple workstreams moving as priorities shift
To be successful in this role you'll bring:
- Proven experience as a Project Coordinator, PMO Analyst or Junior PM
- Strong scheduling and planning skills, ideally with MS Project or similar tools
- Experience monitoring and reporting across multiple projects or a portfolio
- The ability to take clear direction and work well within an established team
- A positive, personable style and strong stakeholder communication
- The flexibility to pivot quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach
- A high performer who is the super glue and go-to for getting things done, driven, organised and always one step ahead
- Immediate start, with a contract through to the end of December
