At F5, we strive to bring a better digital world to life. Our teams empower organizations across the globe to create, secure, and run applications that enhance how we experience our evolving digital world. We are passionate about cybersecurity, from protecting consumers from fraud to enabling companies to focus on innovation.
Everything we do centers around people. That means we obsess over how to make the lives of our customers, and their customers, better. And it means we prioritize a diverse F5 community where each individual can thrive.
Who We Are
At F5, we help organizations deliver and secure extraordinary digital experiences by building and supporting solutions that enable the modern, adaptive applications customers rely on. Our Application Delivery and Security Platform (ADSP) powers complex infrastructures across a wide range of industries, from SMBs to global enterprises, by meeting their unique operational and security needs.
As part of the broader F5 family, NGINX plays a pivotal role in enabling organizations to build high-performing, scalable application delivery architectures across a variety of platforms and topologies. Widely trusted as one of the most used open-source technologies, NGINX enables developers to build, deploy, and scale modern applications with confidence. This includes products F5 builds on top of NGINX, such as NGINXaaS (NGINX as a Service), F5's advanced ADCaaS offering, which extends these capabilities into fully managed cloud environments — enabling businesses to build, deploy, and scale cloud applications without operational toil. And NGINX Ingress Controller and NGINX Gateway Fabric specifically for Kubernetes environments.
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to join us on this journey and play a critical role in shaping the future of NGINX and its position within the F5 Application Delivery and Security Platform.
The Role
As Senior Product Manager, this role sits at a critical experience intersection across the F5 and NGINX portfolio. It will help define how customers discover, operate, extend, and realize value from NGINX-based capabilities, including adjacent F5 offerings and products that build differentiated value on top of NGINX. Success requires connecting product strategy across these touchpoints so customers experience a more unified, intuitive, and outcome-driven path from deployment to ongoing management, security, and optimization.
Working closely with engineering, design, security, your product peers, and go-to-market teams, you will define and drive the capabilities that make up the xOps Services layer of the F5 ADSP platform: policy and management, analytics and insights, orchestration and automation, and AI-assisted programmability. Your work will directly shape how teams operate NGINX at scale — from a handful of instances to thousands across hybrid and multi-cloud environments — gain visibility, enforce consistency, and reduce operational toil.
To thrive in this role, you must be energized by deeply understanding customer pain — the messy realities of fleet management, security posture drift, config sprawl, fragmented observability, and the pressure DevOps teams face to ship faster without sacrificing security. You will champion the voice of the customer and translate it into a focused, prioritized roadmap that drives measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in the product vision and strategy for xOps capabilities across the NGINX line of business in service of the F5 ADSP platform — spanning fleet management, security policy enforcement (WAF/DoS), observability and lifecycle automation while also shaping the NGINXaaS roadmap as the advanced managed ADCaaS offering.
Conduct ongoing customer and market research to deeply understand the pain points of DevOps, PlatformOps, SecOps, and NetOps teams managing NGINX in production at scale, translating insights into prioritized product opportunities.
Define Market Viable capabilities, write PRDs, and set tactical strategies for the next generation of NGINX and NGINXaaS offerings, taking into consideration public cloud market trends, customer requirements, and the competitive landscape.
Develop and maintain a clear, outcome-driven product roadmap in collaboration with engineering, design, and cross-functional stakeholders, balancing short-term customer needs with long-term platform strategy.
Define and drive capabilities across key xOps pillars:
Policy & Management — Unified configuration and security policy enforcement for NGINX business line products
Analytics & Insights — Fleet-wide and offering-wide observability, health monitoring, anomaly detection, and actionable reporting.
Orchestration & Automation — Lifecycle automation that reduces toil and accelerates deployment pipelines.
AI Assistants & Programmability — Intelligent, developer-friendly tooling that integrates into existing DevOps workflows
Partner with marketing and sales to position NGINXOne, NGINXaaS, and related xOps capabilities as key components of F5’s ADSP, crafting compelling narratives that resonate with DevOps engineers, platform operations leaders and cloud-native audiences.
Collaborate with Technical Product Managers and engineering to deliver solutions that are developer-centric, technically sound, and deployable across on-prem, cloud, Kubernetes, and SaaS environments.
Ensure alignment with cloud-native ecosystems, including Kubernetes (NGINX Ingress Controller), Docker, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, and API gateway workflows.
Act as a trusted advisor to the Director of Product Management, providing data-backed insights, competitive intelligence, and strategic recommendations.
Define and monitor KPIs and success metrics — including adoption, fleet coverage, time-to-value, and security posture improvements — and iterate strategy based on product and customer data.
Clearly communicate product strategy, customer outcomes, and roadmap priorities to diverse audiences, from engineering teams to executive stakeholders.
About You
Strategic yet hands-on, capable of defining a vision while ensuring its execution through practical, well-scoped products and detailed roadmaps.
Customer-obsessed and operationally empathetic — you've spent time with DevOps and platform teams and understand the real friction of managing infrastructure at scale.
A natural connector who excels at collaborating across highly technical and non-technical teams, bringing stakeholders along on the journey without losing speed or focus.
Security-aware, with an appreciation for how security and operations intersect — and why closing that gap matters for DevOps teams.
Detail-oriented but adaptable, ready to shift priorities as customers’ needs or market signals evolve while still driving toward long-term platform goals.
Team-oriented, energized by supporting and mentoring others while contributing to a culture of growth and excellence.
Resilient, thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and navigating complexity with a resourceful, solutions-first mindset.
Passionate about building businesses, not just features — you own user metrics and optimize business performance metrics with equal rigor.
What You Bring
5+ years of product management experience delivering highly successful and innovative products with deep pride in what you've built, with a strong focus on operational tooling, developer platforms, infrastructure software, or cloud services — encompassing on-premises, installed, and SaaS-delivered solutions.
Prior experience setting and delivering on a strategy you've crafted, where you were accountable for the outcomes end-to-end.
Strong track record of delivering global products to a diverse customer base, from SMBs to enterprise-scale organizations managing complex, distributed infrastructure.
You have collaborated with engineers in developing the technical architecture of the products you've built, leveraging a solid understanding of networking, application delivery, and application security concepts — including DNS/HTTP/TLS, WAF/WAAP, and authN/Z security technologies.
Deep familiarity with DevOps workflows and toolchains, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and API gateways — and how teams integrate security and observability into those workflows.
Hands-on familiarity with NGINX or similar technologies (e.g., HAProxy, Envoy, Kong), and an understanding of how operations teams manage, monitor, and secure them at scale.
Experience in the cloud services space, with an understanding of its unique challenges in delivering both revenue and value. Working knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) is required, with at least 2–3 years of experience in GCP, AWS, Azure, or OCI. Experience building a core service on one of the major cloud providers is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Cloud Operations, web traffic and application infrastructure, and modern web standards and protocols, and how their use derives value for customers.
Strong customer orientation, with the ability to listen, organize, and champion key initiatives, balancing user feedback, market insights, competitive dynamics, and business objectives into a coherent product strategy.
Exceptional communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills, with a talent for simplifying complex ideas and driving alignment across engineering, design, marketing, and executive stakeholders.
Strong business acumen, with the ability to identify market opportunities, build compelling business cases, and prioritize initiatives that drive product growth and platform adoption.
Willingness to travel up to 20% as required to engage with customers and stakeholders.
