Jobber exists to help people in small businesses be successful. We work with small home service businesses, like your local plumbers, electricians, painters, and landscapers, to transform the way service is delivered through technology. With Jobber they can quote, schedule, invoice, and collect payments from their customers, while providing an easy and professional customer experience. Running a small business today isn’t like it used to be—the way we consume and deliver service is changing rapidly, technology is evolving, and customers expect more. That’s why we put the power and flexibility in their hands to run their businesses how, where, and when they want.

Our culture of transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation has been recognized by Great Place to Work, Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and more. Jobber has also been named on the Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies list, and Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50™, Enterprise Fast 15, and Technology Fast 500™ lists. With an Executive team that has over thirty years of industry experience of leading the way, we’ve come a long way from our first customer in 2011—but we’ve just scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish for our customers.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Foundations team, which is responsible for the systems, patterns, and surfaces that help us build consistent, high-quality experiences. You’ll play a key role in shaping and evolving UI components and UX patterns in Jobber’s design system across multiple platforms. This role necessarily involves thinking about how the design system operates in an evolving age of AI design and development. You’ll lead projects and initiatives that raise standards for visual and interaction design, usability, and accessibility, while improving consistency and team velocity.

Our team collaborates closely with designers, product managers, and engineers across the company. You’ll work at the intersection of design, engineering, and systems thinking to help other teams build better experiences, faster, and to turn good ideas into great experiences that are easier to build, ship, and repeat.

In this role, you will:

• Lead design system projects to create and refine components, interaction patterns, and design tokens that scale across web and mobile platforms

• Apply Jobber’s brand and experience principles to the product through thoughtful, high-quality visual and interaction design

• Identify gaps in the system and proactively drive solutions that improve consistency and usability at scale, and raise the bar for UX quality

• Define and evolve governance models, contribution processes, and best practices

• Partner closely with Engineering to ensure high-quality implementation and to improve how we incorporate the system into AI-backed design and development tools and workflows

• Collaborate with designers and product teams to support adoption, share best practices, and incorporate feedback

• Advocate for UX quality across the company to improve visual design, interaction design, accessibility, usability, and performance

• Contribute to a strong culture of collaboration, mentorship, feedback, and continuous improvement

To be successful, you should have:

• A portfolio demonstrating your design craft, systems thinking, and measurable impact on product quality or team efficiency

• 2–5 years experience designing and evolving design systems, including work on components, patterns, tokens, and documentation

• A track record of leading projects or initiatives that improved design consistency and quality across a product

• Deep expertise in interaction design, UI patterns, and visual design

• Strong understanding of accessibility standards for the web and/or mobile and how to embed them into systems

• Comfort collaborating closely with engineers and understanding how design translates to code

• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, and frameworks like React)

• Experience with modern design tools like Figma (components, tokens, auto-layout, prototyping)

• Strong proficiency in today’s evolving AI design landscape, including prototyping, shared libraries, and design documentation

• Strong judgment in making tradeoffs that scale across teams and use cases, balancing flexibility with standardization

• Proven ability to work cross-functionally and build alignment with designers, engineers, and product partners

Bonus Points

• Experience scaling a design system in a fast-growing, multi-product environment

• Experience designing complex software-as-a-service (SaaS) tools for business (B2B), especially for small-business customers (SMB)

• Coding skills including experience with Typescript — ability to implement tokens and improve component quality, hands-on

• Experience influencing strategy, aligning stakeholders, and driving adoption at scale

• Passion for blending roles, extending design into code and vice-versa

Our Hiring Process:

You can expect the interview process to include the following steps:

• Talent Team Interview (45 min): An introduction to Jobber, your background, and what you’re looking for.

• Portfolio Review (60 min): A deep dive into selected projects to understand your design process, decision-making, and impact.

• Functional Whiteboard Exercise (75 min): A collaborative problem-solving session to see how you approach ambiguity and work through complex UX challenges.

• Cross-Functional Interview (30 min): A conversation about your approach to cross-functional collaboration, including communication, feedback, and decision-making with product and engineering partners.

Location:

We believe great collaboration is intentional, and sometimes that means coming together in person to build, brainstorm, and connect. To support this, the role is open to candidates based in one of our hub cities: Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo.

Compensation:

At Jobber, we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and supportive of your experience and growth. Our salary ranges are designed to reflect the progression from learning the role to truly excelling. This role has an annual salary of:

Canada: minimum annual salary of $125,800 CAD, a midpoint of $147,900, and a maximum salary of $170,100 CAD.

We design our compensation to reflect each new hire’s skills, experience, and the complexity of the role, ensuring a fair and competitive salary. Our range is intentionally broad to support growth and long-term impact, with fully established hires typically starting around the midpoint. The higher end of the range is reserved for those who have demonstrated deep expertise and lasting contributions, while offers below the midpoint reflect strong potential with room to develop. This approach ensures that compensation aligns with both an individual’s current capabilities and their opportunity for future growth.

Base salary is just one part of a total compensation package that will include equity rewards, annual stipends for health and wellness, retirement savings matching, and an extended health package with fully paid premiums for body and mind. Your professional growth matters to us too! You’ll have access to a dedicated talent development program that includes career coaching and opportunities for career development.

We believe in transparency and open conversations about compensation. If you have any questions about our approach, we’re happy to discuss them throughout the hiring process!

What you can expect from Jobber:

• A total compensation package that includes an extended health benefits package with fully paid premiums for both body and mind, matching in RRSP, TFSA or FHSA, and stock options.

• A dedicated Talent Development team and access to coaching, learning, and leadership programs to help you grow your career, reach your goals, and unlock your full potential.

• A unique opportunity to build, grow, and leave your impact on a $400-billion industry that has no dominant player...yet.

• To work with a group of people who are humble, supportive, and give a sh*t about our customers.

We believe that diverse teams perform better and that fostering an inclusive work environment is a key part of growing a successful team. We welcome people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to working with applicants requesting accommodation at any stage of the hiring process.
