About Blue J
Blue J is the leading generative AI solution for tax professionals and one of Canada's fastest-growing AI companies. Headquartered in Toronto, we're a high-growth B2B SaaS company building industry-leading tax research software that helps accountants find accurate answers to complex tax questions with greater speed and confidence.
Backed by a $122M USD Series D funding round, we're scaling rapidly across North America and the UK while continuing to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI. By combining advanced technology with deep tax expertise, we empower tax professionals to work more efficiently, make better decisions, and deliver greater value to their clients.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape the future of our product experience, elevate design excellence, and establish consistent design systems that scale with us.
A Note on Location
This role is open to remote anywhere in Canada, with the expectation that you can travel and can join in-office meetings a few times per quarter at our Toronto based office location. All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact opportunity to help shape the product design function at Blue J. You'll uphold and evolve the standard for design quality, contribute to our design system, and craft seamless experiences that make complex tax research simple.
You'll work hand-in-hand with Product and Engineering to turn user insights into creative solutions, helping our product stay smooth, delightful, and loved by our customers.
This Role is a Great Fit if You:
- Are excited to be part of a lean design team and help set the direction for our design systems and standards.
- Have experience shipping thoughtful, user-centered products and can show how your work made an impact.
- Enjoy collaborating across teams, building strong relationships with developers, PMs, and stakeholders.
- Love solving challenging design problems and turning complexity into simple, intuitive experiences.
- Are comfortable wearing multiple hats - from designer to systems thinker to front-end contributor - to bring great ideas to life.
- Value curiosity, creativity, and collaboration — and bring a positive, playful spirit to your work.
What You’ll be Doing
- Support in the design process: research, discovery, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and developer handoff.
- Building and maintaining a design system, style guide, and component library that scales with our growing product.
- Partnering with Product and Engineering to translate ideas into thoughtful, user-friendly solutions.
- Conducting user interviews and usability testing, using feedback to refine and improve the experience.
- Connecting directly with customers to ensure solutions meet real-world needs and stay easy to use.
- Creating interactive prototypes to validate ideas quickly and collaboratively.
- Iterating on designs based on feedback, performance data, and usability insights.
- Contributing to front-end code (HTML, CSS, React) to speed up delivery and ensure fidelity.
- Improving Figma workflows and documentation to make life easier for the whole team.
- Advocating for great design across the organization and sharing knowledge to raise the bar for everyone.
What You Offer Blue J
- 5+ years in UX/UI or Product Design, with a portfolio of impactful, shipped products.
- Experience building and scaling design systems and encouraging adoption across teams.
- Comfort with modern design tools (Figma, Miro, Jira) and strong familiarity with front-end code (HTML/CSS/React).
- A collaborative approach to working with developers, product managers, and stakeholders in an agile environment.
- Clear communication skills and a thoughtful approach to explaining design decisions.
- A passion for usability, accessibility, and creating experiences that delight users.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset — you see opportunities to make things better and act on them.
