root-cause-analysis

A 6-month senior contract in Sydney CBD (2 days/week onsite) owning enterprise network and security platforms end to end across on-prem, data centre, AWS cloud and branch environments. Day to day covers firewall/traffic policy, complex incident leadership, AWS networking, NIST/CISM risk practices and mentoring, using Cisco, Palo Alto, SD-WAN, Infoblox and F5/NGINX.

We are looking for a Senior Network & Security Engineer for an initial 6 month contract located in the Sydney CBD. You will join a team of 4 and will be responsible for the secure & reliable operation and continuous improvement a number of enterprise network and security platforms.

This is a senior role that will require you to own critical platforms end to end whilst upholding cyber security standards.

Responsibilities

Provide high level support for complex incidents, including incident leadership, root cause analysis, and remediation.
Own the enterprise network and security platforms across on‑prem, data centre, cloud (AWS), and branch environments.
Configure and optimise firewall policies, threat prevention, and traffic inspection.
Support cloud and hybrid networking, with a strong focus on AWS networking.
Apply cyber risk management practices (NIST, CISM)
Mentor junior members of staff.
Have the ability to work after hours when required for critical responses.

What we need:

8+ years' experience in senior network and security engineering roles within large enterprises - financial services a bonus but not essential.
Excellent experience with Cisco (Routing, Switching, DC, Wireless), Palo Alto, SD‑WAN, Infoblox, and F5/NGINX.
Strong experience working on enterprise networks and managing complex environments.
Proven experience designing and operating AWS networking.
Experience with network automation.
Strong understanding of network security, vulnerability management, and compliance.
Ability to multi-task and find solutions to complex issues.

The role requires 2 days a week in the Sydney CBD office. You must hold a visa with full working rights for this role.
