Senior Manager - Outsource Accounting (CAAS)
Location: Flexible / Hybrid
At Clark Schaefer Hackett, we're building something different.
We're large enough to serve sophisticated clients across a wide range of industries, yet small enough that your voice matters, your ideas are heard, and your career isn't limited by layers of bureaucracy. Our people build meaningful careers here because they have the opportunity to do challenging work, develop genuine client relationships, and grow alongside talented professionals who care about one another's success.
Our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice is one of the fastest-growing service lines within the firm. As clients continue to seek strategic accounting support, outsourced finance solutions, and deeper advisory relationships, our team is expanding rapidly and creating opportunities for experienced leaders to make a visible impact.
We're seeking a Senior Manager to help lead our Outsource Accounting practice. This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for client relationships, technical excellence, team development, operational performance, and growth across a portfolio of outsourced accounting engagements.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the senior technical reviewer and trusted advisor for a diverse portfolio of outsourced accounting clients.
- Lead and develop a team of Managers and accounting professionals across both our U.S. and Mumbai delivery teams.
- Build strong relationships with business owners, executives, lenders, tax professionals, auditors, and other trusted advisors.
- Oversee engagement economics, including pricing, realization, staffing, and capacity planning.
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through additional services, referrals, and advisory solutions.
- Help clients determine when they've outgrown after-the-fact accounting services and guide them toward more strategic accounting and finance solutions.
- Drive a culture of accountability, quality, continuous improvement, and exceptional client service.
Why This Role Matters
This position sits at the center of one of the firm's most visible and strategically important growth areas.
You'll help shape the future of the Outsource Accounting practice while working directly with leadership to influence client experience, operational strategy, talent development, and business growth. This is an opportunity to move beyond managing engagements and take ownership of a substantial portion of the practice's long-term success.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in outsourced accounting, client accounting services, controllership, or related disciplines.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close processes, and client service delivery.
- Ability to manage multiple client relationships while balancing quality, profitability, and team utilization.
- Proven success developing business, expanding client relationships, generating referrals, or cross-selling services.
- Active CPA license and/or MBA strongly preferred.
- Experience working with distributed or offshore delivery teams is a plus.
Preferred Experience & Technical Environment
Candidates may have experience in areas such as:
- Client Accounting Services (CAS) or Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS)
- Outsourced Accounting, Outsourced Finance, Virtual Controller, or Fractional CFO environments
- Month-end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and general ledger management
- Compilation engagements and after-the-fact accounting services
- QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Xero, Sage 50, and cloud-based accounting platforms
- Multi-client portfolio management within a public accounting or outsourced accounting environment
- Team leadership, coaching, performance management, and capacity planning
- Business development, client expansion, cross-selling, and referral generation
- Process improvement, workflow automation, and technology-enabled accounting solutions
- Professional service firms, closely held businesses, family-owned businesses, and middle-market organizations
What Sets You Apart
You enjoy solving problems, developing people, and building long-term client relationships.
You're equally comfortable discussing complex accounting matters, coaching managers, addressing client challenges, and identifying opportunities for growth. You bring sound judgment, strong business acumen, and a genuine desire to help clients and team members succeed.
Most importantly, you're looking for a place where your contributions matter and where you can help shape a growing practice rather than simply maintain one.
