Duration: Initial 6-month contract + potential 12-month extensions | Start ASAP | Multiple positions
About the Program
Hope IT Consulting is hiring 4 Data Engineers (1 Lead + 3 Senior) for an enterprise data governance and cloud data-platform uplift program at a leading Sydney university. These are daily-rate contracts with hybrid working in Sydney.
Role Overview
You will design, build, optimise and support data pipelines and data assets across a modern cloud data platform and data lake/warehouse, working with data modellers, business analysts, platform teams and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data models, schemas and metadata
• Develop data-ingestion and integration solutions using ETL/ELT, replication/CDC and APIs
• Support and maintain the cloud analytics platform, troubleshoot processing issues and help ensure reliable service levels
• Implement workflow orchestration, automation, CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Apply data governance, data quality, privacy, security and access-management standards
• Explain technical concepts clearly and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Lead role: provide technical direction, architecture guidance and mentoring to Data Engineers
About You
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud and hybrid/on-premises data-platform ecosystems
• Extensive experience in complex data warehouse or data-lake environments
• Proven ETL/ELT, data replication/CDC, API integration and pipeline-optimisation experience
• Strong workflow orchestration, automation, Agile and CI/CD experience
• Experience applying data governance, data quality and security controls
• Hands-on experience with Data Mesh and Medallion Architecture patterns is essential
• Strong stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills
• Lead applicants: demonstrated technical leadership of engineering teams and architecture decisions
Rates:
• Senior Data Engineer: $720–$880 per day
• Lead Data Engineer: $880–$960 per day
