We are looking for an experienced IT Solutions Engineer to join a major enterprise transformation programme within a highly regulated environment. This is a hands-on role combining solution architecture, software engineering expertise, and technical leadership.
Working closely with the core product team in Dresden, Germany as well as business stakeholders, and distributed delivery teams across Europe and the UK, you will be responsible for designing, evolving, and modernising enterprise-scale platforms while ensuring high performance standards, scalability, and maintainability.
Expected work locations: 2–3 weeks in Dresden, then quarterly travel for 1 week to Dresden, while working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a technology leader with 7+ years' experience in enterprise software development and solution architecture.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong Java background, including Java 11/17 and Java EE / Jakarta EE, together with proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale applications. Strong database design and development expertise, particularly with PostgreSQL, is essential, as is hands-on experience with Eclipse RCP, SWT and JFace, and WildFly Application Server.
You should have a solid understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design principles and design patterns, with experience leading the modernisation of legacy systems and supporting long-term technology roadmaps. Experience with JPA/Hibernate, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Maven and Azure DevOps would be advantageous.
To succeed in this role, you will be a collaborative communicator who is comfortable working with geographically distributed teams and engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Skills
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to influence the technical direction of a significant enterprise programme while remaining close to the technology. You will work alongside experienced international teams, contribute to the evolution of business-critical platforms and play a key role in shaping future architecture decisions.
We are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone is valued, respected and empowered to succeed. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences and believe that diverse perspectives make stronger teams and better solutions.
Travel: Initial onboarding will take place in Dresden and will require a 2–3 week stay on-site. Following onboarding, business travel to Dresden is expected approximately once per quarter.
