Senior HR Operations Specialist

The role

At Lumion, we champion the people who imagine the spaces where we live, work, and interact. Our software helps architects and designers bring bold ideas to life before the first stone is laid. Behind that product is a team spread across many countries and time zones, and we want every one of them to have a people experience that just works.

As our Senior HR Operations Specialist, you are the engine behind that experience. You own our people operations in Deel, from contracts and payroll to EOR and contractor set-ups. You are the first point of contact for our team members' questions, and you make sure every joiner and leaver has a smooth start and finish, together with IT.

You don't just run processes, you rethink them. You automate what can be automated, use AI to make HR simpler, and build an approach that works as well for a colleague in Sassenheim as for one working remotely on the other side of the world. You report to our Head of People & Culture and work closely with Finance, IT and our managers.

Key responsibilities

Own our people operations in Deel

• Run Deel as our HRIS and single source of truth: employee data, contracts, documents and people reporting.

• Manage the full lifecycle of our Dutch employees, EOR employees and international contractors in Deel, from contracts and amendments to terminations.

• Own monthly payroll in Deel for our Dutch employees, EOR employees and contractors: prepare and check the input, align with Finance and resolve corrections quickly.

• Advise on the right set-up per country and person (employee, EOR or contractor) and flag compliance risks, such as misclassification, early.

Be the first point of contact for our team

• Own first-line HR support: answer questions on payslips, leave, benefits, contracts and policies, and route complex cases to the right person, keeping the team member informed along the way.

• Handle employer statements (werkgeversverklaringen), employment letters and other standard HR documents.

• Build a clear self-service knowledge base, so team members in every country and time zone find answers quickly, without waiting for office hours in the Netherlands.

Make every start and finish seamless

• Set up and run onboarding and offboarding together with IT: accounts, access, hardware and equipment shipping, whether someone joins in Sassenheim or abroad.

• Coordinate the practical side of onboarding with hiring managers: contracts, data, welcome communication and a clear first-week plan.

• Make sure offboarding is complete and compliant: access removed, equipment returned, final pay and documents handled with care.

Improve, automate and simplify

• Map our hire-to-retire processes, find the friction and fix it.

• Automate workflows in Deel and the tools around it (Slack, Google Workspace and AI tools), so manual work disappears.

• Use AI to answer, document and simplify: from smart templates to an HR assistant that answers the most common questions.

• Keep our policies, process guides and how-to's up to date and in line with Dutch labour law and local rules in our EOR countries.

• Deliver clean, reliable people data for the People team, Finance and leadership.

What you bring

🌍 International HR operations experience

You have 5+ years in HR operations, ideally in an international scale-up or tech company, with employees in the Netherlands and team members across multiple countries.

🧾 EOR, payroll and contractor expertise

You have hands-on experience with EOR set-ups, international contractors and payroll. You know the difference between an employee, an EOR hire and a contractor, and the compliance questions that come with each.

⚙️ Deel power user

You have worked with Deel or a similar platform (such as Remote, Rippling or Oyster) and know how to get the most out of it, including workflows and integrations.

🇳🇱 Dutch employment know-how

You know the basics of Dutch employment law and payroll: contracts, leave, sickness and employer statements. You're fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.

🤖 Automation and AI mindset

You have automated HR workflows before, with tools such as Deel workflows, AI assistants, and you're always looking for the next thing to simplify.

💬 Service with a human touch

You communicate clearly and warmly with people from many cultures, and you combine precision with care. Getting someone's payslip or first day right matters to you.

Core competencies

HR process management and optimisation · HRIS and technology proficiency (Deel) · Compliance and policy administration · Employee lifecycle management · EOR and contractor management · Payroll coordination · Workflow automation · AI tools · Stakeholder management · Attention to detail

You'll thrive here if

• Change energises you. We're rebuilding the bridge while keeping it open to traffic. You see change as a constant and enjoy helping shape what comes next.

• You switch easily between hands-on and strategic. In the morning you solve a payslip question, in the afternoon you redesign our onboarding flow.

• You're AI curious. You try new tools rather than wait for them, and you share what works with the team.

• You own the outcome. For you, a question isn't done when the question is answered, but when the team member is helped and the process is better for the next person.

• You focus on value. You look at every process through the eyes of the team member who has to use it.

• You love working with people from all over the world and know that a good answer in Sassenheim may not be the right answer in another country.
