The Role
As the Senior HR Business Partner, you'll own the delivery of HR services across multiple operating companies and partner closely with operations, finance, and leadership teams to align people strategies with business goals.
This role combines strategic HR leadership with hands-on support in employee relations, workforce planning, performance management, learning and development, organizational design, and change management.
You'll be a trusted advisor to leaders, helping drive business performance through talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness.
What You'll Do
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary escalation point for employee relations matters
- Lead workplace investigations, corrective actions, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation
- Coach managers through performance conversations and complex employee relations situations
- Promote a respectful, high-trust workplace culture
Workforce Planning
- Partner with operations and finance leaders to forecast workforce needs
- Identify talent risks, skill gaps, turnover concerns, and succession challenges
- Develop strategies to address workforce and talent needs proactively
- Performance Management & Learning and Development
- Support and strengthen McGill's performance management philosophy
- Coach leaders on goal setting, employee development, succession planning, and accountability
- Diagnose leadership capability needs and implement development solutions
- Support career pathing and promotion readiness initiatives
- Equip leaders to conduct meaningful evaluations, development planning, and performance improvement conversations
Organizational Design & Change Management
- Conduct organizational assessments and recommend improvements in structure, role clarity, and decision-making
- Lead change management initiatives and communications
- Support organizational growth and scalability
HR Service Delivery & Governance
- Ensure consistent HR practices, policies, and procedures across operating companies
- Partner with HR Operations on compliance, systems, and reporting activities
- Support integration and standardization initiatives across business units
People Analytics & Business Insights
- Analyze turnover, engagement, workforce, and succession metrics
- Use data and analytics to identify trends and recommend solutions
- Present meaningful HR insights to support leadership decision-making

Qualifications Required
- 8-10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
- 4+ years of HR Business Partner, HR Manager, or multi-site HR leadership experience
- Experience supporting operations-intensive environments
- Strong employee relations and investigation experience
- Experience with workforce planning, performance management, and talent development
- Ability to influence leaders and build trusted partnerships
- Strong communication, facilitation, and change management skills
- Experience working with HR metrics and workforce data
- Proficiency with HRIS, ATS, and Microsoft 365 platforms
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar certification
- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, construction, environmental services, agriculture, recycling, or similar operations-based environments
- Experience with Paycor or similar HR technology platforms
