Hardware Systems Engineer

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Our Hardware Systems Engineers have an insatiable desire to make things better, constantly unsatisfied with the status quo. They love to tinker and are undeterred by the idea of breaking something if it means possibly improving it! In this role, you’ll be the glue that connects the design and production phases of our engineering processes. You’ll work on developing next-generation product enhancements working closely with leadership and senior engineers. You’ll immediately contribute to developing unorthodox products by:

• Independently developing electrical systems and maintaining hardware and software from a systems perspective
• Developing and reviewing schematic, PCB drawings, and software files, verifying designs match the requirements set forth
• Assisting in the creation of a troubleshooting guide to support the hardware and software in production and in the field
• Creating innovative test procedures and frameworks from cradle to grave, validating new designs helping to automate long-term testing to accelerate project timelines
• Creating user interfaces using MATLAB to automate test processes and procedures
• Contributing to multidisciplinary development teams to design new and improve existing products with challenging expectations in a timely manner
• Creating, managing, leading, and executing product validation plans including, but not limited to accelerated life, CE certification, field (in the ocean), and vibration/sound testing, as well as control software validation
• Leading root cause analysis of product design issues and implementing fixes prior to product launch
• Automating long-term testing to accelerate project timelines
• Designing, building, and/or specifying test apparatus and infrastructure
• Serving as a systems expert on Seakeeper’s current products and future product improvements
• Effectively communicating test results, observations, and conclusions in a clear, concise, and intuitive way
• Documenting and cataloging collected data for future use

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Do you have a positive attitude, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to hustle in a fast-paced environment? Then Seakeeper is the place for you! Here are a few other things you’ll need to succeed.

MUST-HAVES

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an electrical, mechanical, or computer science-related discipline
• 3 or more years of experience developing, implementing, and validating hardware systems in complex, innovative products
• Be comfortable wiring and being hands-on with the product (it’s going to be dirty sometimes!)
• Data analysis skills and demonstrated capabilities using programs such as Python, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW
• Have a mechanical aptitude and be handy
• Capable of thinking systematically and documenting processes, procedures, and test results
• Thrive in a collaborative team environment, but also effective when working independently
• Ability to independently manage tasks assigned and contribute to task development leading to a milestone
• Eager to learn and gain experience in a wide array of disciplines and projects
• Motivated to improve both yourself and those around you and demonstrate technical leadership
• Passion to bring new products into production

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Electromechanical system experience
• Working knowledge and demonstrated implementation of resistors, capacitors, and inductors
• Experience developing your own coding using C, or C++
• Simulink Experience
• Experience executing validation testing in either a lab or field environment

MORE DETAILS YOU'LL WANT TO KNOW

• You’ll be based in our Leesport, PA facility 5 days a week
• You’ll report to the Hardware Systems Engineering Manager, also based in PA
• In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to be exposed to other engineering disciplines with the option to dig into other areas of product development should you have an interest

YOUR TEAM

Our Hardware team is nestled within our Seakeeper Embedded & Hardware department. It is a small, but mighty team that covers a lot of ground. It is a flat team, managing projects through an Agile workflow that allows maximum exposure to a variety of projects and systems within the group. The team is comprised of engineers with varying backgrounds and specialties including hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, software, controls, and more with a heavy emphasis on collaboration. You’ll be able to be involved in a myriad of projects with program level exposure instead of only owning a small defined piece of the process.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE

It’s true that we make extraordinary products, but our favorite part about Seakeeper is our people! We love the culture we have built and are aggressively protective of our team atmosphere. This is why we value your cultural fit as equally as we value your technical contributions. With a palpable passion for what we do, we work hard, move fast and are constantly pushing (or should we say crushing) boundaries. That means there is no room for jerks!

We operate with the nimbleness and growth mindset of a scrappy startup. Throughout the organization, we take ownership and accountability for our ultimate team success by openly and actively seeking out constructive feedback on how we can improve. We believe great ideas can strike at any moment, and when you have one, you’re empowered to speak up!

Fast-paced and hands-on don’t even begin to describe what you’ll experience here. That means you have the freedom to make a difference and contribute to the larger goal, regardless of your position. The only constant at Seakeeper is change, and we thrive on it!

WHO WE ARE

71% of our Earth is covered by water and we want everyone to make the most of it. That’s why we are on a mission to create products that transform the boating experience with an organization that employees want to work for, customers want to buy from, and vendors want to partner with.

Founded in 2008, we have grown from a start-up operation to the worldwide leader in marine motion control. The journey began with our gyrostabilization technology, which eliminates up to 90% of boat roll and creates a land-like experience on the water. This technology went from an unknown commodity to a must-have boating requirement in the first decade. In 2022, we added another jaw-dropping technology to our portfolio with the launch of Seakeeper Ride, a first-of-its-kind Vessel Attitude Control System which eliminates underway pitch and roll, making time on the water safer and more comfortable for everyone onboard. In summary, we are in the business of creating gravity-defying products that completely change the way people spend their time on the water…and we are just getting started!

We have long runways with both of our technologies with new addressable markets on the horizon and drive to push the boundaries of what our technologies can do. With dedicated focus to each segment, in addition to shared leadership of each vertical, we can balance the different demands of each segment while providing a consist overall vision and direction of the company.

Ready for a new challenge in a fast-paced environment? Want to help us disrupt an industry? Come on and apply, we are ready for you!
