Our partner is transforming the legal industry by making high-quality legal support accessible to everyone. Through a combination of regulated human lawyers and proprietary AI, they’re reimagining how legal services are delivered—faster, cheaper, and more equitably.Their groundbreaking AI legal assistant is powered by a fine-tuned large language model (LLM) and has already passed rigorous legal qualification exams, showcasing its real‑world competence. Backed by leading US and UK investors—including Google Ventures and Balderton Capital—they recently closed a $40M Series A round, one of the top five largest in Europe for 2024.Now expanding internationally, they’re scaling both their engineering team and the complex systems that power their AI‑first platform.
The Role
We’re hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to have a profound impact at Feature level and to build & scale mission-critical systems at the core of our partner’s platform, with a focus on event-driven architecture, distributed system design, and AI productisation. You’ll join a deeply technical, product-focused team, contributing across the full stack—from frontend interfaces to backend infrastructure. Your role involves more than shipping features—you’ll be solving sophisticated architectural challenges, ensuring systems scale reliably under increasing load and complexity.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement full-stack solutions across core product, AI workflows, and infrastructure
- Architect and evolve event-driven systems for scalability, resilience, and performance
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and AI research to bring complex tools to life
- Shape system-wide architecture and contribute to long-term technical strategy
- Ensure robust observability, testing, and operational excellence in all services
- Mentor engineers and uphold high standards for code quality, security, and performance
- Participate in hiring, technical decision-making, and roadmap planning
What You’ll Need
- Strong experience building and scaling distributed, event-driven systems in production
- Deep understanding of modern full-stack engineering (TypeScript, React/Next.js, tRPC, etc.)
- Experience with cloud-native infrastructure, especially serverless, AWS/GCP, and CI/CD workflows
- Expertise in relational and NoSQL data systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
- Solid command of system-level concerns—latency, availability, caching, concurrency
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments or startups
- Familiarity with product development processes; you work closely with designers and PMs
- A passion for solving real user problems with elegant, scalable solutions
- A track record of taking ownership and delivering significant engineering outcomes
- We don't mind if you're self‑taught or from an elite university - this is about the combination of elite level programming and experience. Yes we'd love to see those from the likes of Imperial, UCL, Kings, Cambridge, Oxford, Warwick etc, however ultimately that's in vain unless you've used your talents in the real world on challenging engineering tasks.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform)
- Exposure to LLMs or AI/ML workflows in production
- Strong opinions on architectural trade-offs in microservices vs. monoliths
- Knowledge of security and data privacy best practices in regulated domains
Engineering Culture
- Build for scale – We’re solving hard problems that require thoughtful, scalable engineering
- Think event-first – Modern architecture is distributed, reactive, and modular
- Move with urgency – We ship daily, experiment fast, and learn from data
- Own your outcomes – Engineers shape the roadmap and make product‑defining decisions
- Empathy-led – Deep understanding of user context is key to designing robust systems
