Senior full-stack engineer at Cakewalk, an identity and access management (IAM) startup securing access for both humans and AI agents. You'll own features end to end across a TypeScript/React frontend and C#/.NET Core backend (~45% backend, 25% frontend, 20% AI tooling) while advancing AI-augmented, agentic engineering workflows.
Cakewalk is access management for the entire workforce: AI agents and human identities. We built a single platform to govern and secure access in companies through policy-first access management, runtime provisioning, and identity-linked lifecycles.
We are looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (m/f/d) to join our ambitious engineering team and help accelerate our product development.
You will join a team of 10 engineers as a senior individual contributor, reporting to an Engineering Manager. This role is for someone who combines technical strength, grit, and self-reflection, and who is excited to take meaningful ownership in a fast-moving environment.
As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, you will build and improve customer-facing functionality across our frontend and backend. You will own features from early product discussions through implementation, testing, release, and ongoing maintenance.
You will collaborate closely with Product and Customer Success to understand customer needs and turn them into reliable, maintainable solutions. You will also help us improve and expand our AI-augmented engineering workflows while remaining fully accountable for the quality, security, and architecture of the resulting code.
The approximate focus of the role is:
Build and own product functionality
Contribute to product development
Advance AI-augmented engineering
Maintain a high quality bar
You should have:
A bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related subject is an advantage, but not a strict requirement.
Prior experience in Identity and Access Management or cybersecurity is not required. However, we expect the security awareness and foundational understanding appropriate for a senior software engineer.
Our current technology stack includes:
Frontend
Backend
Platform and observability
Our system is organized around modular monoliths and domain-driven design. We value engineers who understand architectural trade-offs and can help the system evolve as the product and organization grow.
In your first three months
You will:
After 6-12 months
You will:
Some of the challenges you may work on include integrations with different products, protocols, AI agents, Model Context Protocol servers, and other emerging technologies.
Put Simplicity First
Our reason for existing is to simplify IAM. We make our product intuitive and powerful, our customer interactions valuable, and our internal processes efficient. We support our coworkers to ensure our collective success.
Think Big. Iterate Fast. Reflect Openly.
We focus on what is possible, prioritize outcomes over busy activity, and work in short cycles. We value deep thinking, radical transparency, and root-cause analysis over blame.
Everyone Sells Cakewalk
We are a product-driven organization, but our North Star is commercial success. Everything we do is ultimately for our customers.
Enjoy the Baking
Building a company is a challenge. We are here to win, but also to enjoy the ride. We foster an environment of growth and collaboration with fantastic humans.
During the interview process, we want to understand:
We openly use AI in our engineering work, but we place a high value on genuine human interaction. Please do not use AI tools during live interview conversations. It is always better to acknowledge that you do not know something than to rely on AI for an immediate answer.
Be prepared to discuss engineering principles, design patterns, clean architecture, domain-driven design, testing strategies, API design, and API security. We will be interested in your decision-making process, how you solve problems, and how you write and review code.
When sharing examples from your experience, we recommend using the CARR model:
Humility drives learning. During the process, you may receive direct feedback. We value candidates who listen carefully, reflect openly, and apply what they learn.
Before interviewing, we encourage you to learn about Cakewalk, our product, and the Identity and Access Management industry. Think about what distinguishes our approach and how your experience could help us build the governance layer for a workforce made up of both humans and AI agents.
We welcome candidates with different backgrounds and experiences. Studies have shown that people from underrepresented groups are less likely to apply unless they meet every listed qualification.
