Senior Frontend Engineer

About Six Robotics

At Six Robotics, we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate, adapt on the fly, and execute missions that were previously impossible.

From our base in Oslo, our team of 90+ engineers, researchers, and defence specialists develops our autonomy and swarm platform, used by both government and industry. Working closely with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) and end users, we move quickly from ideas to field deployment, solving problems where software meets the real world.

The challenges we work on don’t come with existing playbooks. They demand deep technical thinking, close collaboration across disciplines, and the ability to learn quickly as both the technology and the company evolve.

At Six Robotics, every person executes with precision, adapts to changing conditions, and strengthens the team. If you’re excited about building systems that matter and growing alongside talented people that push boundaries every day, you’ll find no better place to deliver real-world impact.

About the role

At Six Robotics, autonomy only creates value if operators can understand what the system is doing and control it when it matters. Our GUI is where that interaction happens, turning a complex autonomous system into a product that is clear, responsive, and reliable in the hands of our customers.

You will join a team of experienced engineers building and evolving this interface. This is frontend engineering where the details matter: complex operational information, real-time systems, demanding user interactions, and software that has to work outside the comfort of a demo environment.

We are looking for an experienced engineer who can navigate complexity and make sound technical decisions without needing every problem to be fully defined. You will go deep into the frontend while keeping sight of the wider system, working closely with designers and engineers across different teams to build solutions that work.

Success means making difficult problems simpler. You will be strengthening the frontend as the product evolves, and helping the team move faster without compromising quality.

What you will do

• Build and evolve our customer-facing GUI, using our core frontend stack consisting of React and Typescript.

• Develop frontend solutions for complex, real-time systems where reliability and performance matter, Turn complex technical and operational information into clear and intuitive user experiences.

• Work closely with designers and engineers across disciplines to take features from idea to production.

• Solve frontend problems with the wider system in mind, building solutions that remain maintainable as the product grows.

• Help raise the quality of our frontend through code reviews, technical discussions, and strong engineering practices.

What we are looking for

We believe you are an experienced frontend engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and cares about building software that holds up over time. You are comfortable going deep into the details, but you also understand how the frontend fits into the wider system and make decisions with that bigger picture in mind. We believe the right candidate brings:

• 5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, building and maintaining complex applications.

• Deep, hands-on experience with React and TypeScript.

• A strong understanding of frontend architecture and how the frontend fits into a larger system.

• The ability to work autonomously, make sound technical decisions, and move forward when not everything is fully defined.

• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders.

• A high bar for quality, with strong attention to detail and a focus on building reliable, maintainable software.

Nice to have:

Experience with any of the following is a plus, but not a requirement: backend development, GIS and mapping, real-time systems, Electron or DevOps and CI/CD.

Why you should join

• Build at the edge of what’s possible: You’ll work on problems the industry hasn’t solved yet, alongside people who are pushing the boundaries of autonomy, AI, and robotics.

• Grow as fast as the company: We believe that chance favours those in motion. The role you’re hired into is just the starting point. As Six Robotics evolves, so will your scope, your responsibilities, and your opportunities.

• Work with exceptional people: Surround yourself with people who raise your own standards. You’ll join a team of ambitious engineers and operators who care deeply about the quality of their work. Expectations are high, but so is the willingness to help each other improve.

• Ship work that matters. The things you build don't stay in a demo environment. They get deployed, tested, and used where reliability and performance genuinely matter.

• Supported by great benefits. Alongside meaningful work, we offer competitive compensation, equity potential, strong pension and insurance plans, gadget budgets, modern equipment, panoramic offices, and the flexibility you need to do your best work.

Our recruitment process

We want hiring to be transparent and respectful of your time. We aim to move with momentum while making thoughtful hiring decisions - because every new team member matters.

Our process typically includes:
