About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Generative AI Engineering for Consumer Technology. You will build the GenAI platform and reusable capabilities that allow Consumer Technology teams to deliver AI-powered experiences safely and at scale, and you will lead a team of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) who embed with business and product partners to take high-value GenAI use cases from discovery to production. You will also drive GenAI adoption and measurable developer productivity gains across Consumer Technology engineering.
Reporting to Vivek Pooyath, Technology Executive, this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has shipped GenAI solutions to production, knows how to turn individual wins into shared platform capabilities, and can build a high-performing team that operates within the controls expected of a regulated financial institution.
In this role, you will:
- Define and execute the GenAI platform strategy and roadmap for Consumer Technology, aligned with enterprise AI platforms, architecture standards and business priorities
- Build and operate shared GenAI services and reusable components, including model access, RAG pipelines, prompt and agent orchestration, tool integration, SDKs and reference architectures
- Scale shared capabilities across Consumer Technology through LLMOps practices for versioning, deployment, monitoring, observability and cost management, keeping the platform resilient and cost-effective
- Lead a team of Forward Deployed Engineers who embed with business and product teams to deliver high-value, high-impact GenAI use cases from discovery through production
- Drive rapid prototyping followed by disciplined productionization, and track value realization across business outcomes, customer and colleague experience, and operational efficiency
- Feed Forward Deployed Engineering learnings back into the platform, turning repeatable solutions from field engagements into reusable platform capabilities
- Lead GenAI adoption and enablement across engineering and business partners through playbooks, onboarding guides, training and a GenAI community of practice
- Drive adoption of AI coding assistants and own the developer productivity framework, including AI-assisted development and DORA metrics, with dashboards that pinpoint bottlenecks and guide improvement
- Ensure GenAI solutions comply with Wells Fargo model risk management, Responsible AI, data governance and privacy policies, including appropriate handling of PII and sensitive customer data
- Implement guardrails, evaluation standards and security controls (content filtering, prompt-injection defenses, grounding, bias and safety testing), with auditability for regulatory examination
- Partner with business, product, enterprise architecture, cloud, data and cybersecurity stakeholders to prioritize the use case portfolio and report impact to senior leadership
- Hire, coach and grow a high-performing, inclusive team of engineers, FDEs and engineering managers, setting clear goals and managing resources, budget and vendor partnerships
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- Experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, and with tool integration standards such as the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
- Experience with LLM evaluation and observability practices and tooling, and with LLMOps for operating GenAI solutions at scale· Experience with one or more public cloud platforms (Azure, GCP or AWS)
- Experience with container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift
- Experience designing and building APIs and microservices
- Experience in regulated industries, preferably banking or financial services
- A track record of taking GenAI use cases from concept to production with measurable business impact
- Experience establishing developer productivity and engineering metrics programs
- Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to senior business and technology leaders
- Experience building and leading forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering or similar customer-embedded teams

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$191,000.00 - $305,000.00
