About the Team
The Developer Platforms organization provides cloud infrastructure and tooling to 100+ teams and 750+ engineers in NYT Product Engineering through an internal developer platform. The DevEx Platforms team (6 engineers) focuses on developer experience and workflow automation.
We’re now expanding into more AI-assisted developer workflows using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot to support debugging, migrations, test generation, and everyday development in a safe, measurable way.
This role sits in Developer Platforms and reports to the Engineering Manager of the DevEx Platforms team.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer on DevEx Platforms, you’ll build GenAI-augmented developer experiences and platform capabilities used across all of The New York Times.
Your work will help teams ship faster and more safely, pay down technical debt through structured migrations and platform modernization, and turn effective internal practices into reusable tools and agents.
What You’ll Do
This role requires limited on-call hours. An on-call schedule will be determined when you join, taking into account team size and other variables.

Candidate Use of GenAI Tools:
We’re excited to learn more about you and your experience. To keep our hiring process as fair and authentic as possible, we ask that you submit your own work and not use GenAI tools to generate substantive content during the application and interview process.
