Right now, somewhere in the world, a live broadcast is going out, a control room operator is watching over critical infrastructure, and a transport network is running exactly on schedule. All connected in real time by technology built by the team you'd be joining. If you want your code inside systems that genuinely can't afford to fail, keep reading.
The opportunity
This isn't a role where you own one thin slice of the stack and hand off the rest. One day you're down in the Linux kernel, wrestling with device drivers and board bring-up; the next you're deep in real-time multimedia streaming that has to hit zero-latency, because somewhere a broadcaster or a control room is relying on it working. Every time. Without fail. You'll be building the embedded C, C++ and Rust that underpins IP-based KVM and connectivity products used in genuinely mission-critical environments: broadcast, national security, transport, industrial control. Not internal tools. Not prototypes. Software that ships and stays in the field.
What's essential
You must come from a networking embedded software background. The products live and breathe IP networking, multi-threaded systems and performance-critical code, and we need someone who already thinks that way, not someone picking it up as they go.
Alongside that, you'll bring:
- Strong, hands-on C, C++ and Rust
- Confidence building middleware and backend applications on Linux
- Comfort optimising performance-critical, multi-threaded code
- Bonus points if you've touched HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, streaming media protocols or embedded Linux environments — this is where you'll really stand out
- Employee-owned.So when the business does well, so do you.
- A genuine engineering heritage stretching back decades, with national recognition for innovation excellence along the way
- You'll sit alongside hardware, software and test engineers who actually talk to each other. No siloed teams, no throwing code over a wall
- Real autonomy: A say in how products get built, not just a ticket queue to work through
- Hybrid working: You're not chained to a desk five days a week, although the environment and setup is so strong that many choose to work full time in the office
- Competitive salary
- 25 days holiday
- Bonus scheme
- Excellent pension
- Hybrid working
- Private healthcare option
- Cycle-to-work scheme
- Free on-site parking
