Senior Digital Design Engineer

Do you want to experience the excitement of playing computer games on a graphics processor (GPU) that you have designed yourself? Then this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced hardware design engineer to join the GPU Hardware Design Team and help us design the GPUs powering the devices of tomorrow!

If you enjoy solving complex technical problems and are eager to help build the next generation of GPU technology, we would love to hear from you.

Job Description:

Arm’s GPU Design Team is responsible for developing the Mali™ range of graphics processors. Mali™ is one of the world’s most widely deployed GPU architectures. Our team is crafting the next evolution of Mali GPU technology for graphics, compute, and AI workloads. They are delivering improvements that will make our innovative GPU even better.

Responsibilities:

This position allows you to put your technical skills and creativity to the test. You will work on micro architecture development, build, and optimization of GPUs. These GPUs will run graphics, compute, machine learning, and AI workloads while balancing agressive power, performance, and area (PPA) targets.

What will I be accountable for?

• You will derive specifications from architecture requirements.
• You will specify, design and optimise complex blocks for use across multiple generations of GPUs.
• You will deliver IP blocks on time whilst meeting PPA targets.
• You will take technical leadership for a block within the GPU.

Required Skills and Experience :

• You will have shown experience of RTL design for GPUs, CPUs or DSP.
• Broad project experience where you have owned and carried out design and implementation of complex units or sub-systems, from specification to design sign-off.
• You can do metric driven design space exploration, including the knowledge of how to evaluate and compare different solutions and pick the one that is the best trade-off between PPA requirements of the product
• You have the ability to work with a high level of independence and schedule own work and tasks.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

• Experience with high level programming in languages such as C/C++.
• Knowledge of verification techniques such as UVM or formal verification
• Familiar with functional safety aspects of design and verification, including knowledge of ISO 26262.

In Return:

• Competitive benefit package. Our benefits package in Norway includes competitive pay, private medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, 20 days of sabbatical every 4 years, parental leave, supplementary pension, and wellness benefits.
• Our Trondheim team engages in ambitious engineering alongside a strong focus on work-life balance, flexible working and time outdoors. Norway offers excellent healthcare, education and family support systems, alongside easy access to nature and outdoor activities year-round.

By joining Arm, your ideas will make a difference and have the opportunity to lead, challenge the norm and ultimately change the world of media processing. We value engineers who are curious, collaborative and motivated by solving difficult technical problems. If you do not meet every listed requirement but believe you would thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply.

Use of AI in Your Application

At Arm, we embrace the benefits AI can bring, including in recruitment. You may use AI to support your preparation, such as improving the clarity of written responses, practicing interview questions, or learning more about our industry. However, your application and interview responses must reflect your own thinking, experience, and abilities. We want to understand your authentic perspective, creativity, and approach to problem solving. As such, you may not use AI to complete assigned tasks as part of any assessments. If you plan to use AI-supported or assistive technologies as part of a reasonable adjustment, please contact [email protected] so we can support you.

We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team’s needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution.
