At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
Are you ready to tackle bold challenges and make a real impact? At Roche, we’re not just building IT infrastructure — we’re engineering secure, scalable, and highly innovative software solutions that protect and empower digital health systems globally. We're looking for passionate and driven individuals to join our Certman PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) team as a Senior DevOps Engineer and help us lead the way in cutting-edge, trust-based technology.
Our Certman team issues and manages the digital certificates that secure Roche's internal systems and services worldwide. We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to help us automate, scale, and secure that trust infrastructure end-to-end.
At Roche, everything we do is powered by our passion to transform patients’ lives. We embrace science, ethics, and innovation. We're bold in our decisions and actions because we know a brighter future depends on it. Every day, we show up to build that future — for a better world, for humankind.
Diversity and inclusion aren’t just buzzwords here; they’re essential to who we are. We believe that unique perspectives breed innovation and creativity, which is why we are committed to building teams that reflect the extraordinary range of human potential.
You'll own the infrastructure that keeps our PKI running. That means designing and maintaining Terraform modules across multi-cloud environments, operating Kubernetes in a genuinely hybrid setup, and running the secrets and PKI plumbing that everything else depends on.
Day-to-day, you'll shape how we ship and observe things: improving CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI and GitHub Actions, maturing our ArgoCD-based GitOps, managing self-hosted runners, and building observability with Grafana Cloud. When on-prem workloads need it, you'll build VM images.
Beyond the tools, you'll support three product teams in the Certificates organization, balancing their operational needs with the longer-term infrastructure work — and you'll have the autonomy to propose better ways of doing things rather than just executing tickets.
What You Bring
We are looking for thinkers that implement solutions to technical problems (optimisation, reliability). Someone with production Kubernetes experience who's comfortable owning clusters end-to-end, and who has solid hands-on experience with Terraform, AWS, secrets management, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling. Scripting in Python or Bash should feel natural, and your English — written and spoken — needs to be excellent. Your communication skills must be so good that we can see you leading technical conversations at all levels from day one.
But honestly, the mindset matters more than the checklist. In a cohesive DevOps and delivery team, we need someone who takes ownership without being asked, communicates openly when things are unclear, asks for help before getting stuck, and treats teammates and stakeholders with patience and respect. We value people who are curious, pragmatic, and genuinely enjoy improving the things around them.
Your Opportunity to Shine:
This role is about taking ownership and leading the charge toward transformational DevOps best practices, precision engineering, and cutting-edge cloud integration. Show your skills, grow your career, and make a measurable impact on enterprise security — all alongside a team that has your back.
Why Choose This Role?
At Roche, you're more than just an employee — you're part of a mission-driven global team that celebrates diversity, creativity, and modern engineering through inclusion and innovation. Beyond that foundation, you'll find significant growth opportunities to expand your technical horizons in both advanced enterprise security and cloud-native software engineering, sharpen your architectural skills, and explore exciting, global challenges at the intersection of IT and life sciences. Finally, you'll work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, making it an ideal opportunity if you thrive on solving complex, real-world software and automation problems.
Ready to elevate your career while playing a pivotal role in saving lives? Join Roche, where your work meets purpose — our shared commitment ensures our software (and teams) are always striving for excellence.
