What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Data Engineer (Marketing), you will lead the design, build and optimisation of scalable, reliable and governed data workflows that support marketing, customer engagement, analytics and activation outcomes. Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Customer Systems, you will own customer and marketing data pipelines, integrations, platform workflows and data quality processes, ensuring solutions are secure, maintainable and operationally robust.

Working across business and technology teams, you will translate complex requirements into practical data-driven solutions, guide technical decisions and deliver workflows that enable customer, marketing, digital and analytics use cases. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong problem-solving skills, sound technical judgement and the ability to independently deliver complex solutions while providing guidance to stakeholders, delivery partners and team members.

• Design, build and optimise scalable data workflows, integrations and automation solutions that support marketing, customer, digital and analytics outcomes.
• Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions, balancing reliability, privacy, cost, maintainability and operational performance.
• Lead the configuration and optimisation of marketing and customer platforms, including audience, event, trigger, journey and activation workflows.
• Design, troubleshoot and support complex data pipelines, integrations and transformation processes, ensuring data quality, accuracy and reliability.
• Investigate and resolve data, tracking and activation issues, performing validation, reconciliation and root cause analysis where required.
• Own delivery from solution design through to implementation, monitoring, support and continuous improvement.
• Implement and maintain appropriate governance, documentation, monitoring, alerting, audit and operational controls.
• Partner with stakeholders across Marketing, Customer, Product, Data, Engineering and Technology to deliver business outcomes, provide technical guidance and identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI and emerging technologies.

What Sets You Apart

Technical Experience

• 5+ years' experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data operations, integration engineering, marketing technology, customer systems, or similar technical delivery roles.
• Proven experience designing, building and supporting data workflows, integrations, automation solutions and data pipelines across connected business systems.
• Strong understanding of APIs, events, schemas, data mappings, webhooks, workflow logic, data transformation patterns and system-to-system data movement.
• Solid SQL and data management skills, including data validation, reconciliation, troubleshooting and data quality management.
• Experience managing data extraction, transformation, enrichment, monitoring, failure handling and operational support processes.
• Exposure to marketing and customer technologies such as CDPs, marketing automation, web analytics, tag management, audience activation, experimentation, personalisation or CRM-related platforms is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of privacy, consent, governance, auditability, monitoring and operational risk considerations in customer and marketing data environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity, gather requirements, design practical solutions, test outcomes, document processes and support production workflows.
