Senior Data Engineer

The Opportunity

This consultancy is on a mission to build a genuine tech haven in Perth, home to some of the most ambitious data work in the market. They're behind exciting projects spanning industries from finance to healthcare to logistics, backed by a track record of major delivery wins that keep the pipeline full. They're after like-minded people who want to build a serious career, not just clock hours, working on novel problems most consultancies never get near.

Why This Role Stands Out

• Genuine architectural ownership, not just delivery on someone else's design

• Exposure to mix of clients and industries rather than one product for years

• Senior consultants and structured mentoring alongside you, not a sink-or-swim start

• Learning built into the role: paid certifications and regular training as standard

• Room to shape best practice on code quality, testing and CI/CD across the team

What You'll Do

• Architect and build enterprise-grade data pipelines to ingest, transform and load data at scale

• Design scalable data lakehouses and modern data warehouses from the ground up

• Optimise data models and storage for performance, security and cost

• Lead technical delivery while partnering closely with client stakeholders, ML engineers and platform teams

• Mentor junior engineers and set the standard on code quality, testing and CI/CD

You'll work across:

• Cloud and platform: Azure, GCP, AWS

• Data storage and modelling: Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift

• Pipelines and orchestration: dbt, Airflow, Fivetran, Azure Data Factory

• Languages: Python, Scala, SQL, PySpark

• Ways of working: Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience architecting and building enterprise-grade data pipelines at scale

• Hands-on expertise with at least one major cloud data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery or Redshift)

• Strong engineering skills across Python, Scala, SQL and PySpark

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and containerised CI/CD (Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes)

• Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentoring engineers and setting engineering standards

Nice-to-Haves

• Multi-cloud exposure across Azure, GCP and AWS

• Orchestration tooling experience (dbt, Airflow, Fivetran or Azure Data Factory)

• Prior consulting or client-facing delivery background
