Stats NZ, New Zealand's national statistics office, is hiring a Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer in Wellington on a fixed-term contract to December 2028. The role designs, automates, and secures the organisation's Microsoft cloud estate — Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Purview, and Databricks — using PowerShell and Terraform while providing technical leadership.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer to join Stats NZ on a fixed-term basis and play a key role in shaping and supporting our Microsoft cloud environment. Based in Wellington, this senior technical position combines cloud engineering, automation, platform operations, security, and technical leadership across a modern cloud-first organisation.
Working across Microsoft 365, Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Azure Databricks, and related cloud technologies, you'll help design, deliver, and continuously improve secure, resilient, and well-governed cloud services. You'll work closely with security, architecture, and operational teams to support strategic initiatives while providing hands-on expertise that strengthens our cloud platforms and enhances the way Stats NZ works.
