At TOPIC , we work every day on high-tech innovations that make the world smarter, healthier, and better. We are searching for a Senior C++ Software Engineer who takes ownership of the DevOps-related deliverables. Are you an experienced Senior Software Engineer who understands how modern tooling and CI/CD enhance the quality, speed, and scalability of software development?

“DevOps is a mindset of continuous improvement. The goal is to relentlessly optimize processes, tools, and collaboration to increase development efficiency, speed up delivery, and elevate software quality”

Erwin Bonsma | Software Architect @ TOPIC

What will you do as a Senior C++ Software Engineer with DevOps ownership?

We develop the software behind advanced medical systems, semiconductor equipment and high-tech machines where reliability, performance and precision are critical. Software that has to perform predictably, often under strict timing constraints, while interacting closely with hardware.

As a Senior C++ Software Engineer, you'll design and develop these complex software systems together with some of the most experienced engineers in the industry.

But that's only part of the role.

You're also someone who notices when software teams can work smarter. When builds take too long. When testing can be automated. When repetitive work should disappear. Instead of accepting it, you improve it.

That is why we're looking for a Senior C++ Software Engineer who enjoys improving both the software and the engineering process behind it.

Your responsibilities as a Senior C++ Software Engineer with DevOps ownership

• Design, implement, and verify subsystems, modules, and components within complex embedded systems
• Integrate software into complex hardware and software systems
• Apply Object-Oriented Programming, UML, unit testing, and modern design principles

Alongside software development, you'll help the team become more effective by improving the engineering workflow. That means you are also involved with:

• Improving CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate builds and test execution.
• Develop Python tooling that removes repetitive manual work.
• Improve developer experience and software quality.
• Help colleagues adopt better engineering practices.

Job Requirements

What do we offer you?

This makes you smarter:

• Strategic projects in complex high-tech environments
• Collaboration with senior engineers and domain experts
• Access to advanced training through our TOPIC Academy
• Opportunities to contribute to and lead tech events and knowledge sessions

This makes you better:

• Permanent contract
• An all-in employment package between €57.000 and €76.000 (including net expense allowance, mobility package, 13th-month bonus, and holiday allowance). Final salary is based on relevant work experience and level of expertise
• 26 vacation days (with the option to purchase additional days), pension scheme and relocation budget (when you relocate to the Netherlands)

This keeps you healthy:

• Strong work-life balance, flexible working hours, and hybrid working
• Inspiring office environment with fresh fruit and an on-site fitness facility
• Home office support to create an inspiring workspace at home
• Regular fun, social, and sports events

What are we looking for?

We're not looking for a full-time DevOps Engineer. We're looking for an experienced C++ Software Engineer who enjoys making both the software and the development process better. You enjoy solving technically challenging problems and naturally take ownership of improving how software is built. You don't consider CI/CD, automation and tooling as separate disciplines, they are simply part of writing better software.

Ideally you bring:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in (Technical) Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or similar
• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience as a Software Engineer in a high-tech or embedded environment, with a strong track record in designing and developing object-oriented software solutions in C++ and preferably Python
• Experience with optimization, setting up or maintaining CI/CD and build environments is required
• Experience with OOP, unit testing, Agile methodologies, and software design principles
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a strong plus
