What are we looking for?
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Business Analyst to support the organisations transformation journey.
Where will you be based?
This role can be based from our Durham office, but we would expect you to travel and work from other offices from time to time.
How many hours will you be working?
This is a full-time role which is 35 hours per week, however at EMG Solicitor we work flexibly, it’s not a 9 to 5 role, but we do expect the work to be done, when you do it can be largely up to yourself, your Team Leader and the requirements of your clients.
A brief overview of the role:
We are seeking our first Business Analyst to play a pivotal role in supporting the organisation's transformation journey. This is an exciting opportunity to establish business analysis capability within a growing transformation function and influence how change is delivered across the business.
The Business Analyst will support a varied portfolio of initiatives including business acquisitions and integration, technology replatforming, data and reporting improvements, process optimisation, operational efficiency initiatives, and organisational change programmes.
Working closely with business leaders, subject matter experts, technology teams and project managers, the role will identify opportunities for improvement, define business requirements, analyse data and processes, and ensure change initiatives deliver measurable business value.
This role requires a curious, analytical and proactive individual who can operate comfortably in a developing transformation environment and help embed a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based decision making.
What will we expect from you:
Business Analysis
- Lead the elicitation, analysis and documentation of business requirements across a range of transformation initiatives.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews and stakeholder engagement sessions to understand business needs and challenges.
- Translate business objectives into clear and actionable requirements, user stories, process maps and functional specifications.
- Challenge existing practices to ensure future-state solutions are effective, scalable and aligned to strategic objectives.
- Support solution evaluation and option appraisal activities.
- Ensure requirements maintain clear traceability through delivery and implementation.
Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement
- Analyse existing business processes, identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements.
- Map current and future-state operating models, customer journeys and workflows.
- Apply continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational effectiveness and user experience.
- Support the development of standardised processes across acquired businesses and teams.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and streamline activities.
- Establish measurement frameworks to track improvement outcomes and benefits realisation.
Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement
- Analyse existing business processes, identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements.

Data Analysis & Insight
- Analyse operational, financial and performance data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
- Develop meaningful business insights that inform decision making and prioritisation.
- Support development of management information, KPIs and reporting frameworks.
- Work with stakeholders to improve data quality, consistency and governance.
- Use data to build evidence-based business cases and quantify benefits associated with change initiatives.
- Support the evolution of reporting capabilities and performance measurement across the organisation
Change & Transformation Delivery
- Support delivery of transformation programmes, projects and strategic initiatives.
- Act as a bridge between business teams and technical specialists.
- Assist with acquisition integration activities, including process harmonisation, system alignment and operational transition planning.
- Contribute to project planning, risk identification and business readiness activities.
- Support user acceptance testing, training and implementation activities where required.
- Ensure solutions are adopted successfully and deliver intended outcomes.
Stakeholder Management
- Build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Influence stakeholders through evidence-based recommendations and objective analysis.
- Work collaboratively with operational, technology, finance and leadership teams.
- Support effective communication of change impacts, opportunities and benefits.
- Act as an advocate for continuous improvement and transformation across the business.
To be able to perform this job you will need.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Continuous Improvement Analyst, Change Analyst or similar role.
- Strong requirements gathering, analysis and documentation skills.
- Experience facilitating workshops and engaging diverse stakeholder groups.
- Process mapping and business process analysis expertise.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Experience using data to identify insights and drive recommendations.
- Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and helping shape ways of working.
- Experience supporting digital, technology or system implementation projects.
- Experience of acquisitions, integration activities or organisational change.
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Experience using Power BI or similar reporting and analytics tools.
- Understanding of project delivery methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
- Experience within professional services, legal services or regulated environments •
