PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for analyzing, documenting, and improving business processes and workflows in support of Definiti’s operational and technology initiatives. Working within an Agile Scrum development environment alongside Software Engineers, QA Testers, and other stakeholders, the position serves as the bridge between business needs and technical delivery. This role requires strong analytical ability, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative mindset to drive continuous improvement across cross-functional teams. The position requires work across the company to collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, and scrum teams to understand and translate our customer’s business and technical requirements. This senior position is responsible for influencing business outcomes, not just producing requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the analysis, redesign, and optimization of enterprise-wide business processes spanning multiple departments
• Establish process standards, governance models, and documentation practices across the organization
• Develop business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and ROI assessments to support investment and prioritization decisions
• Evaluate and recommend technology, integration, automation, and AI solutions that improve operational effectiveness
• Support organizational change management efforts related to new business processes, systems, and technologies
• Develop and maintain standards, templates, methodologies, and best practices for the Business Analysis function
• Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders; translate requirements into user stories, process maps, and functional specifications for the development team
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives; Partner with the development team to ensure requirements are understood and properly scoped
• Model and document current-state (as-is) and future-state (to-be) business processes using standard notation (e.g., BPMN, swim lane diagrams) to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
• Creates user stories, use case diagrams, acceptance tests, etc. to communicate high-level technical functions and requirements in Microsoft Azure Devops
• Decomposes high-level information into details and documents refined, actionable, functional requirements
• Leads various committees or work groups to develop, implement, modify, and document new or revised processes, procedures, systems, and tracking mechanisms
• Prepare and lead requirement sessions with the business for continuous grooming. For example, in the Agile Scrum methodology the Product Backlog grooming/management and user story prioritization
• Participates in Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Daily Scrum meetings, and other Agile artifacts (if applicable)
• Collaborate closely with Software Engineers and QA Testers on the same project team to ensure seamless handoff between requirements, development, and testing phases
• Maintain and prioritize the product backlog; work with product owners to define acceptance criteria and ensure user stories are ready for development
• Conduct root cause analysis and process audits; recommend and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve the end-user experience
• Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, training materials, and business rule repositories to support knowledge continuity
• Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) coordination, working alongside QA Testers to validate that delivered solutions meet business requirements
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings, working sessions, and demos; communicate project status, risks, and changes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Identify and escalate risks or issues that may impact project delivery; propose mitigation strategies in collaboration with project leadership
• Partner directly with senior leadership to identify business challenges and define solution strategies
• Facilitate cross-functional alignment on large-scale initiatives
• Lead discovery workshops for enterprise transformation efforts
• Trains Product Owners on Agile SDLC process and their role
• Review and approve business requirements, process models, and user stories prepared by other analysts
• Mentors to Business Analysts to ensure appropriate business analyst standards and practices are met when appropriate
• Serve in a Scrum Master role for an agile team as needed
• Stay current on industry trends, process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma), and relevant technology advancements
