This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior BI/Software Developer based in the United States.
The Senior BI/Software Developer will lead and contribute to the design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support of business intelligence solutions and enterprise applications. This role spans the full software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements and defining technical architectures to deployment and production support. Working closely with business stakeholders, developers, analysts, and technical teams, the successful candidate will deliver reliable, secure, and high-quality systems that address complex business needs, particularly within healthcare-related data processes. The position combines advanced software engineering, database development, data modeling, reporting, and troubleshooting responsibilities. It also offers opportunities to provide technical leadership, improve application performance, and contribute to continuous quality improvement. This is a fully remote contract opportunity expected to last six months or longer, with an anticipated start date of October 6, 2026.
Manage the Software Development Lifecycle: Lead and participate in requirements gathering, analysis, architecture, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance for medium to large-scale applications, with a particular focus on business intelligence solutions.
Design Application and Data Architectures: Develop and review technical architectures, application designs, data models, and data delivery solutions for complex systems, including multi-tier and client-server environments.
Develop and Maintain Applications: Build, enhance, and maintain software using structured programming practices, appropriate development frameworks, and established coding and documentation standards.
Build Business Intelligence Solutions: Develop and support data processing, reporting, and analytics capabilities that meet business needs, including designing data models, report architectures, and data delivery processes.
Manage Databases and ETL Processes: Develop and maintain database objects, stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and data integration workflows using SQL-based technologies and relevant ETL tools.
Implement Testing and Quality Assurance: Perform unit, integration, load, and regression testing as required. Coordinate quality assurance activities, document defects, verify fixes, and ensure software meets established quality standards.
Manage Software Deployment and Configuration: Follow source control, build management, promotion, deployment, and change control procedures to ensure reliable software releases and effective management of application assets.
Provide Application and Incident Support: Troubleshoot application, database, infrastructure, and system issues; manage incidents and defects; and provide ongoing technical support after implementation.
Maintain Technical Documentation: Create and update system documentation, data dictionaries, technical specifications, application metrics, and supporting materials to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing.
Lead Technical Projects: Provide technical direction for simple to moderately complex projects, define work assignments, prioritize tasks, estimate effort, track progress, and communicate project status.
Improve System Performance and Reliability: Identify opportunities to enhance application functionality, performance, security, and stability while recommending technical solutions that address business requirements.
Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with customers, business analysts, developers, infrastructure teams, and external partners to resolve problems, evaluate alternatives, and support informed technical decisions.
Support Security and Compliance: Apply appropriate security models, access controls, privacy requirements, and regulatory protocols when designing, developing, and maintaining applications.
Stay Current with Technology: Monitor industry trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend improvements to development practices, tools, and technical environments.
Software Development Lifecycle Expertise: Strong knowledge of requirements analysis, software architecture, application design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and retirement processes.
Structured Programming and Design: Experience applying modularization, decomposition, coding standards, documentation practices, naming conventions, unit testing, and software development best practices.
Application Architecture: Understanding of web, Windows, batch, console, and client-server applications, including multi-tier architectures, web services, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and application layers.
Database Development: Experience with relational database management systems, particularly Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle, including database design, data modeling, stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
SQL Programming: Knowledge of ANSI SQL and related languages, including T-SQL and PL/SQL.
Business Intelligence and Reporting: Familiarity with data architectures, normalized and dimensional modeling, UML, OLAP, report delivery methods, and reporting tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Report Manager, Crystal Reports, or Visual Studio Report Designer.
ETL and Data Integration: Experience with data integration and transformation technologies such as Microsoft DTS/SSIS, VBScript, or Informatica, as well as XML and other data transport methods.
Development Tools and Web Technologies: Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio, JavaScript, VBScript, HTML, XHTML, HTML5, jQuery, and CSS.
Source Control and Deployment: Experience with software configuration management, version control, automated builds, deployment processes, release management, and change control. Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Git is relevant.
Application Infrastructure: Understanding of server and desktop operating systems, virtual machines, storage, security, browsers, web servers such as IIS or Apache Tomcat, and application support environments.
Scheduling and File Transfer: Familiarity with job scheduling tools such as AutoSys, SQL Server Agent, or Windows Scheduler, along with FTP, SFTP, ODBC, and distributed environment utilities.
Debugging and Incident Management: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex application issues, track defects, coordinate resolutions, and provide effective post-implementation support.
Testing and Quality Control: Experience with manual and automated testing, defect management, quality assurance, regression testing, and deployment validation.
Technical Leadership and Project Coordination: Ability to guide technical assignments, prioritize workloads, estimate effort, manage project progress, document risks, and collaborate effectively within a development team.
Analytical and Communication Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assess technical options, recommend appropriate solutions, document findings, and communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Security and Compliance Awareness: Ability to implement appropriate access controls and security practices while respecting privacy, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
Hourly Pay: $65 per hour.
Work Arrangement: Fully remote position.
Contract Duration: Initial six-month contract, with the listed assignment running from October 6, 2026, through March 6, 2027.
