About the Role
We are looking for a Backend / Data Infrastructure Engineer to work on a platform for data processing and analytics.
The main focus of the role is distributed systems, database engines, data infrastructure, and data performance optimization.
You will work on core product technologies, query engines, storage layers, and systems that enable efficient work with different data sources and compute environments.
Key Responsibilities
-Develop and maintain query engine APIs for modeling and testing query engine behavior.
-Build and improve data workflows and integrations with different compute engines.
-Add support for new systems, including BigQuery, Trino, MotherDuck, and others.
-Work on a storage layer optimized for Apache Iceberg and analytical workloads.
-Develop mechanisms for ensuring data integrity across multiple query engines.
-Build logic for automatically routing queries between Snowflake, DuckDB, Trino, and ClickHouse based on performance, cost, and data freshness.
Work with logical query plans and their serialization.

Build automated benchmarking systems to compare:
-query latency;
-throughput;
-cost;
-performance across real-world workloads.

Requirements
