Role: Senior Azure Data Engineer
Day Rate: Negotiable
Contract Length: 6-months
Location: Sydney/Hybrid Australia Wide (50/50 attendance in office)
Security Clearance: NV1 Mandatory

We're recruiting an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a well-established Federal Government technology team delivering Azure-based data and analytics solutions.

This is a hands‑on senior role combining technical design, data engineering and stakeholder engagement. You'll lead the development of cloud data solutions and work across data pipelines, ETL, data lakes, warehousing, analytics and visualisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and development across data projects
• Design and build Azure-based data workflows and ETL processes
• Develop data lake, warehouse and database solutions
• Build scalable integrations using Azure Data Factory and Event Hub
• Develop analytics and visualisation solutions using Power BI
• Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions
• Support delivery within Agile project environments
• Recommend improvements to existing platforms, code and development practices

About You

• 3+ years' commercial data development / data engineering experience
• Strong Azure Data Factory experience
• Azure Synapse, ADLS, Blob Storage and Azure SQL experience
• Azure Event Hub experience
• Strong ETL / data pipeline development skills
• Power BI development including DAX, stored procedures, functions and views
• Experience producing detailed technical designs from high-level architecture
• Strong stakeholder communication and teamwork skills
• Agile delivery experience

Experience with REST APIs, Python, Spark and AI/ML technologies will be highly regarded.
