The Associate Lead Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions that enhance engineering productivity, automation maturity, and software quality across the organisation.
This role combines strong software development expertise with modern quality engineering practices to build automation frameworks, developer tooling, CI/CD integrations, AI-assisted testing solutions, and reusable engineering platforms. The position will collaborate closely with development, product, DevOps, platform engineering, and quality teams to deliver innovative solutions that improve development efficiency and release confidence.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong programming skills, experience building automation frameworks and cloud-native applications, and a passion for leveraging AI and modern engineering practices to solve complex business challenges.
Why this title works: It positions the employee as a software engineer first and a quality enabler second, which is typically easier to attract strong development talent while still supporting your Testing CoE, TestGenie, AI automation, and engineering enablement initiatives. It also creates a stronger long-term growth path into Lead Software Engineer → Principal Engineer → Architect compared to a traditional SDET ladder.
