Sales Strategy and Operations Manager at Verkada – Tokyo | Jobyssey

Who We Are

Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management.

We’ve got serious momentum in the market: more than 30,000 customers (including 100+ of the Fortune 500), a $5.8B valuation, more than $1 billion in annualized bookings, and backing from CapitalG, Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst, Felicis Ventures, Next47 and more. Physical AI is one of the most consequential technology shifts of our time, and Verkada is at the center of it.

You can look at all kinds of communities to see our platform’s impact in the world. It's the retailer that uses our agentic AI to deter theft before it happens. The warehouse that uses AI-powered alerts to make sure its team is protected on the floor with proper PPE. The school that’s alerted to a threat in real-time and triggers a lockdown in seconds, not minutes. We’re rapidly scaling this impact: today, more than 2 million Verkada devices are deployed across 170+ countries.

About the Role

As a member of our JAPAC Sales Strategy and Operations team, you will have an integral role in driving the insights, operations, and strategy that enables our JAPAC Sales Region to run better, faster, and smarter as we expand throughout the region. Sales Strategy and Operations is an excellent platform to learn how a business really runs.

You will be joining the Sales Strategy and Operations team as a high impact contributor, gaining exposure to a wide variety of challenges, processes, and data that makes the engine of this Sales organization hum. As a Manager on the Sales strategy and operations team in JAPAC, you will lead cross-functional initiatives from ideation to analytics to recommendations to drive impact across the sales organization.

We are committed to a thriving in-office culture. This role requires that you be on-site at our office in Tokyo, Japan office 5 days a week.

What You'll Do

Strategy & reporting: pulling ongoing and ad hoc reporting for weekly / quarterly business reviews, and providing insights to inform business decisions.
Strategic planning: work with business stakeholders to develop, implement, and operationalize the sales plan for the JAPAC region.
Territories & accounts: drive planning and implementation of new territories to support the expansion of new teams, reps, geographies, and segments.
Systems and operations: identifying and implementing improvements in current workflows and processes that can help improve efficiency and visibility - this might be in or other tools.
Critical business partner: act as an extension of the existing Sales Strategy and Operations team to provide day to day business support for the JAPAC team on various items such as data, system processes and approval flows.
Sales enablement: building programming and content to help new hires get up to speed as quickly as possible, as well as tracking the right effectiveness metrics to see what makes someone a top (or bottom) performer and how we scale those learnings.
Since we're still in building mode, there's a lot of rolling up your sleeves and getting into the weeds to drive direct impact on a daily basis. We knock out today's problems while also balancing our need to build for the long-term.
You’ll be working in Salesforce and Google Sheets / Excel on a daily basis, while also talking frequently with our stakeholders in sales, marketing, ops, product, finance, and more to help troubleshoot systems issues, review insights from our analyses, and build future-state processes and systems.

What You Bring

High-impact self-starter: you take initiative to move projects forward and can operate well with little guidance. You’re excited by the possibility of leading cross-functional workstreams and generating buy-in among senior leadership.
Raw smarts: we are looking for people who can look at complex problems and solve them start to finish.
Strong analytical skills: you nerd out about data, can quickly structure analyses to answer key business questions to drive decision-making, and will also have perspectives on building the right data architecture. Excel skills are a must; SQL / Tableau / Looker experience a plus.
Process and operational thinking: you can tackle a problem independently and quickly iterate to a solution, and then also document it in a way that's easy to understand for all audiences. Previous salesforce experience is a plus.
Communication and stakeholder management: you'll need to be able to connect with sales reps and engineers alike to figure out how we build the right processes and workflows to drive efficiency while also giving us the data to measure how we're doing. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
Flexibility and hustle: you manage change and ambiguity well, and have no problems juggling multiple priorities while executing in a fast-paced environment. You’re comfortable pivoting quickly and often.
5+ years of professional experience, ideally in consulting, banking, private equity, corporate strategy, or a startup. Bachelors or masters from a top school preferred.
Previous experience with Salesforce, Sales Operations & Strategy are a plus.
Native or fluent in Japanese.
Must be willing and able to commute 5 days in office.
