Role Context

The Rust Developer will design and improve backend systems that support secure, reliable, and high-performance applications. Assignments will include API development, schema planning, database optimization, validation logic, error management, and testing of AI-assisted software development tools. The role also involves participating in concentrated four-day testing periods. During these bursts, the developer will use AI models in realistic coding scenarios, document failures and unexpected behavior, and share evidence-based recommendations with the research team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and optimize backend services using Rust.
• Build scalable REST and GraphQL endpoints for production applications.
• Define clear API contracts, request structures, response formats, and service boundaries.
• Implement robust data validation across incoming requests and backend workflows.
• Develop consistent error-handling strategies with useful logging and diagnostic information.

• Review backend services for reliability, maintainability, scalability, and performance.

Ideal Profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong production-level expertise in Rust.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Practical experience developing GraphQL services and schemas.
• Advanced understanding of backend validation, error handling, and service security.
• Strong knowledge of database design, migrations, indexing, and performance tuning.
