Job DescriptionJob Description
We are seeking an experienced RF Filter Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end design, simulation, and prototyping of RF and microwave filter products. In this role, you will work within a fast-paced engineering team to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and high-performance solutions for defense, telecommunications, avionics, and radar applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Prototyping: Apply core engineering principles and RF synthesis/simulation software to design, model, and prototype new RF and microwave filter components.
- Compliance Analysis: Conduct detailed technical evaluations to verify compliance with electrical, mechanical, environmental, and regulatory requirements across all proposed designs.
- Cost & Lead Time Estimation: Estimate material, labor, testing, and development expenses alongside lead times to support technical proposals and quoting processes.
- Project Execution: Lead assigned design initiatives from initial concept through completion following structured design and development protocols.
- Performance Optimization: Fine-tune component designs for peak performance, reduced cost, and minimized production lead times.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Provide technical guidance to assembly personnel and engineering technicians during prototype construction and optimization.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to transition new processes into full-scale production.
- Collaborate with Procurement to ensure prompt delivery of required prototype materials.
- Lifecycle & Legacy Support: Assist with mature product lines by providing engineering support for obsolete parts, quality improvements, or cost reduction opportunities.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current on emerging industry technologies, proposing new product initiatives to maintain a competitive market edge.
Qualifications & Skills
Technical Requirements
- RF/Microwave Expertise: Deep understanding of RF/Microwave filter synthesis, simulation tools, and lumped-element/distributed-element designs.
- Design Topologies: Strong foundation in lumped-element filter topologies, cavity/dielectric resonator filters, and integrated microwave filter assemblies.
- High-Power & Miniaturization: Hands-on experience designing high-power filters (300W+) and/or miniaturized filter architectures.
- CAD & Simulation: Proficiency in CAD tools integrated with electromagnetic analysis software.
- Lab Skills: Practical, hands-on bench testing and troubleshooting expertise using standard RF test equipment.
- Systems Knowledge: Technical understanding of radio architecture, avionics, military communication systems, and radar technology.
- Compliance: Must be eligible to work with ITAR-controlled data without a license requirement.
Experience & Education
- Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering (BSEE or MSEE ).
- Experience: 10+ years of overall experience in the RF/Microwave industry, including at least 5 years dedicated specifically to filter design.
General Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong project management skills with a track record of meeting delivery milestones.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work on-site in a combined office and electronics manufacturing environment.
- Physical capability to sit or stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, reach, and lift/move materials up to 50 lbs as necessary.
- Dexterity to operate hand tools, lab instruments, and machine controls safely.
- Willingness to adhere to safety standards, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when working around manufacturing processes and chemicals.
