Job Summary

Tranquility Bay Beachfront Resort is seeking a friendly, outgoing, and service-oriented Part-Time Restaurant Host / Hostess to join our Food & Beverage team at Butterfly Café.

As the first point of contact for our restaurant guests, the Host / Hostess plays an important role in creating a welcoming dining experience. This position is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations, coordinating seating arrangements, and supporting smooth restaurant operations.

The ideal candidate is personable, organized, attentive to detail, and enjoys working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service & Hospitality

• Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, creating a positive first impression.

• Escort guests to their tables, present menus, and provide a friendly introduction to the dining experience.

• Respond to guest questions and requests promptly and professionally.

• Communicate estimated wait times and manage guest expectations during busy periods.

• Accommodate seating preferences and special requests whenever possible.

• Answer incoming phone calls courteously and professionally.

• Maintain a friendly, welcoming, and professional presence throughout each shift.

Reservations & Seating Coordination

• Manage restaurant reservations and maintain accurate reservation records.

• Organize seating arrangements to support efficient restaurant operations and guest satisfaction.

• Coordinate seating rotations to ensure fair and balanced guest distribution among servers.

• Communicate with servers and restaurant leadership regarding table availability, reservations, and guest needs.

• Monitor dining room activity and adjust seating plans as needed during busy service periods.

• Assist with coordinating seating for larger parties and special dining requests.

Restaurant Operations & Team Support

• Ensure menus are clean, organized, accurate, and presentable.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming host stand and entrance area.

• Assist with clearing, cleaning, resetting, and preparing tables as needed.

• Verify that tables are properly set and ready for service.

• Communicate guest concerns or special requests to the appropriate team members.

• Work collaboratively with servers, assistant servers, and restaurant leadership to maintain smooth service.

• Follow resort service standards, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.

• Upscale dining, fine dining, or hotel restaurant experience is a plus.

• Friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine passion for guest service.

• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to remain organized and professional in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to multitask and manage guest requests efficiently.

• Strong teamwork and attention to detail.

• Ability to learn restaurant reservation and seating procedures.

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.

• Ability to move throughout the dining room and restaurant areas.

• Ability to bend, reach, and perform routine restaurant setup and cleaning tasks.

• Ability to carry menus, supplies, and other lightweight restaurant items.

Part-Time Position

Schedule will vary based on business needs and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
