Do you thrive in environments where influence, curiosity, and data come together to drive real business impact?
We're partnering with a fast-growing, Toronto-based SaaS organization that’s redefining how companies approach financial planning and analytics. As they continue to invest in Data & AI, they're looking for a Data Governance Specialist who can help shape how data is trusted, structured, and leveraged across the business.

Who You Are
- You're someone who doesn't just understand data, you understand people.
- You're naturally curious, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and confident asking the kinds of questions that uncover gaps others miss.
- You can move between business and technical conversations with ease, translating data challenges into practical, scalable solutions.
- You're not waiting for direction, you're creating it.

- Support the rollout and adoption of data governance tools (e.g., cataloging, data quality platforms)
- Help shape AI-ready data practices, ensuring data is structured, complete, and fit for advanced analytics
- Embed governance standards into day-to-day workflows- not just policies on paper
- Contribute to data privacy, compliance, and risk mitigation efforts
- Establish visibility into data health through metrics, monitoring, and reporting
- Act as a key driver in building a culture where data is treated as a strategic asset
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or similar data-focused roles, with the ability to drive initiatives and influence stakeholders
- Experience supporting or implementing data governance frameworks and stewardship models
- Strong understanding of data cataloging, lineage, and data quality principles (tools like Collibra, Informatica, Alation are assets)
- Ability to influence stakeholders across business functions- this role is as much about communication as it is about data
- Experience working with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, or cloud ecosystems like AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Exposure to data privacy and regulatory standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn ambiguity into structured solutions
- Experience supporting or preparing AI-ready data for analytics or ML use cases
- A proactive, self-starter mentality with the ability to operate independently and drive initiatives forward
- Comfort working in fast-paced environments where priorities evolve and clarity is built along the way
What Makes This Role Exciting
- Real Influence, Not Just Oversight: You won't just enforce governance, you'll shape how the business thinks about data across teams.
- Build Something That Lasts: This is a newly re-established function, giving you the opportunity to help define frameworks, practices, and long-term strategy.
- AI-Driven Future: Play a key role in ensuring data is structured and ready to support growing AI and machine learning initiatives.
- High-Trust, No-Red Tape Environment: Bring ideas forward, test them, and iterate quickly - without layers of bureaucracy slowing you down.

- Comprehensive benefits coverage that supports your health, wellbeing, and day-to-day peace of mind
- RRSP matching and stock options, so you're not just contributing to growth, you're part of it
- Time off that actually lets you reset, including vacation, wellness days, personal days, and summer Fridays
- Flexible spending accounts designed to support real life, whether that's health, family, or lifestyle needs
