Lever, Inc. is seeking a Lead QA Engineer (AI Native) based in Italy to join a small, senior engineering team building an AI-first product.
You will own the quality strategy for a complex codebase where AI agents generate much of the code, with a focus on reliability for critical financial workflows. You will design the end-to-end testing pipeline, automate UI tests across browsers and devices, integrate tools, and apply AI-assisted testing approaches.
Design and build the end-to-end testing pipeline, including pre-merge checks, nightly test runs, release validation, and production quality gates. Define the quality strategy for AI-generated code, identifying high-risk areas and ensuring scalable coverage. Build and maintain automated UI testing across browsers and mobile devices, including AI-agent-driven approaches. Evaluate, select, and integrate external testing tools and services to improve reliability and efficiency. Own product reliability from a technical QA perspective, focusing on critical financial workflows. Collaborate with engineering and DevOps to embed quality throughout the lifecycle and balance speed with safeguards. Proactively identify quality risks and share testing practices across the team. Use AI coding agents daily to create, maintain, and evolve testing solutions. Proven experience designing and owning testing processes for large, complex products with high reliability requirements (QA Architect, Senior QA/SDET, or senior testing role). Strong software engineering foundation with knowledge of system architecture, backend services, CI/CD, and deployment processes. Hands-on experience building automated tests and integrating testing into CI/CD workflows. Practical daily experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) as part of software development. Genuine interest in AI-first development and adapting testing to AI-generated code. Strong autonomy, ownership, and ability to tackle loosely defined challenges independently. Hands-on as an individual contributor in a small, senior team. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Fluent Russian.
