Ready to swap the UK commute for a thriving recruitment career, beaches within 20 minutes and weekends in the Southern Alps?
Tyler Wren is looking for an experienced Recruitment Consultant to join our Christchurch team.
This is a genuine opportunity to combine a successful recruitment career with a lifestyle that is difficult to replicate in the UK.
You will not be starting from scratch in a foreign country. You will join an established specialist consultancy with recognised market presence, warm client relationships, active talent networks and genuine support to build a high performing desk.
Why Christchurch?
We are not going to pretend this is a holiday. It is a career move.
However, Christchurch gives you the opportunity to build that career in a city where life outside work is genuinely different.
You can finish work and be at Sumner Beach in around 20 minutes, head into the Port Hills for a mountain bike ride, or spend the weekend skiing at Mount Hutt or exploring the Southern Alps.
Christchurch has a growing city centre with excellent restaurants, bars, craft breweries, coffee shops and Riverside Market, while the outdoors are never far away.
Canterbury gives you easy access to surfing, skiing, mountain biking, hiking and some of New Zealand's best outdoor destinations, including Banks Peninsula, Hanmer Springs and Kaikoura.
It is also a relatively affordable New Zealand city, with a wide range of rental accommodation and new developments.
The UK Connection
Moving to the other side of the world is a big decision, which is why having people around you who have done it themselves matters.
Our Christchurch Manager, Ben Holloway and one of our Directors both moved to New Zealand from the UK.
You will have people around you who understand the move, the differences in working culture, settling into Christchurch and everything that comes with building a life in New Zealand.
There is also no shortage of familiar accents and British banter in the office.
Your Recruitment Career
This is not a generalist recruitment role. Tyler Wren specialises in high value professional services recruitment across:
- Legal: New Zealand and Australia
- Accounting: New Zealand and Australia
- Banking, Finance, Insurance & Risk: New Zealand
We are particularly interested in recruiters who know how to build genuine client relationships, develop candidate networks and run a commercially successful desk.
Why Tyler Wren?
- Established platform: You will have an existing business, market presence, client relationships and talent networks to build from. This is not a cold start.
- Genuine autonomy: You are an experienced recruiter, so we treat you like one. You will have ownership of your desk, relationships and working day without unnecessary micromanagement.
- Uncapped earning potential: A competitive base salary combined with an uncapped commission structure gives you the opportunity to build your earnings as your desk grows.
- Modern technology: You will have access to JobAdder, LinkedIn Recruiter and AI recruitment tools to help you source, manage and develop your market efficiently.
- Flexibility: Hybrid working and glide time give you flexibility around when and where you work, provided you deliver the outcomes expected of you.
- Competitive base salary
- Uncapped commission
- Potential pathway to long term visa sponsorship for the right person
- Hybrid working and glide time
- Paid birthday leave
- Quarterly bonus days off
- NZ$600 annual cellphone allowance
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Annual flu vaccination
We understand that relocating internationally comes with practical questions.
If you are eligible to work in New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa, this can provide a straightforward way to make the initial move.
Once you are established in the role, we can look at longer term visa options for the right person who wants to build a permanent career with Tyler Wren.
We are looking for someone who wants to make Christchurch home and build something lasting.
What We Are Looking For
You will be an experienced Recruitment Consultant with a proven ability to manage and grow a specialist recruitment desk.
Legal, accounting, finance, banking, insurance or risk recruitment experience would be ideal, although we are open to recruiters from other specialist professional services markets.
More importantly, you will be someone who:
- Builds strong, long term client relationships
- Knows how to develop and manage a candidate network
- Is commercially minded and motivated by results
- Works independently without needing to be micromanaged
- Is resilient and self motivated
- Wants to build something rather than simply maintain an existing desk
- Is genuinely excited about living and working in New Zealand
Imagine finishing work and being on the beach 20 minutes later. Imagine having the Port Hills on your doorstep for an evening mountain bike ride.
Imagine skiing at Mount Hutt on Saturday and being back in Christchurch for dinner. Or taking a weekend trip to Kaikoura, Hanmer Springs or Banks Peninsula without having to organise a flight.
A proper city. A great outdoor lifestyle. Short commutes. Easy access to the coast. Mountains within reach. More space and time outside work.
That is the lifestyle you are moving for. The recruitment career is what makes the move worthwhile.
Ready to Explore the Move?
You do not need an updated CV or a formal application to start the conversation.
If you are an experienced recruiter in the UK and have ever thought “I could actually live in New Zealand”, let's have a conversation.
It will be informal, confidential and with no obligation.
