Job Title: Recruiter - St. Lawrence Region
Department: Talent Acquisition
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday through Friday; Days. This is a hybrid position.
This position supports the Nursing Support functions at Canton-Potsdam, Gouverneur, and Messina Hospitals. You will work directly with a Lead Recruiter who supports the Nursing space. This position will be required to travel to the Rochester, NY area quarterly.
SUMMARY
The Talent Acquisition Recruiter is responsible for delivering full-cycle recruitment services for assigned client groups under the direction of the Talent Acquisition Manager. This role partners closely with hiring leaders to identify staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, and attract, assess, and hire top talent across the health system. The Recruiter executes local and national recruitment plans, leverages traditional and innovative sourcing strategies, and plays a critical role in building high-performing teams that support organizational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruitment Strategy & Workforce Planning
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs, develop recruitment strategies, and create requisitions.
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for assigned positions across the health system.
- Develop and execute recruiting and interview plans for open positions.
- Create, review, and modify job descriptions and prepare positions for external marketing.
- Build and maintain talent pipelines to support current and future hiring needs.
- Conduct regular follow-up with hiring managers to assess recruiting effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed.
- Candidate Sourcing & Talent Attraction
- Identify, source, and engage active and passive candidates through a variety of recruitment channels.
- Research and recommend innovative sourcing methods and recruiting tools.
- Utilize social media platforms, professional networks, industry associations, and other resources to attract qualified candidates.
- Develop relationships with industry professionals, educational institutions, and community organizations to strengthen talent pipelines.
- Maintain ongoing communication with prospective candidates to support future hiring efforts.
- Promote the organization as an employer of choice through positive candidate and community engagement.
- Networking & Relationship Building
- Establish and maintain professional networks through industry associations, trade groups, community organizations, and employee referrals.
- Develop and nurture relationships with hiring leaders, employees, educational institutions, and external partners.
- Attend professional organization meetings, networking events, and membership development activities.
- Create and maintain contacts within healthcare and relevant professional industries.
- Recruitment Marketing & Community Outreach
- Coordinate and participate in recruiting initiatives that enhance organizational visibility and candidate engagement.
- Represent the organization at career fairs, networking events, and recruitment-related activities.
- Deliver presentations at colleges, universities, and community organizations to promote career opportunities.
- Build partnerships with schools and academic programs to support internship, residency, and early-career talent initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen the organization's employer brand.
- Candidate Assessment & Selection
- Review applications and evaluate candidate qualifications against job requirements.
- Conduct phone screens and pre-employment interviews.
- Facilitate candidate movement through the selection process and ensure a positive candidate experience.
- Present qualified candidates to hiring managers and provide recruitment guidance throughout the interview process.
- Extend employment offers and support successful candidate acceptance and onboarding.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and complete candidate records within the applicant tracking system.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, employment laws, and recruitment procedures.
- Manage relationships with third-party recruiting agencies when applicable.
- Maintain knowledge of organizational benefits, employment practices, and talent acquisition processes.
- Coordinate effectively with Talent Acquisition Coordinators and other recruitment support resources.
- Participate in special projects, process improvement initiatives, and other assignments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year of relevant experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of area colleges desired, with experience in on campus recruitment.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Energetic, passionate individual with ability to sell the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

PAY RANGE:
$63,000.00 - $78,000.00CITY:

The posted pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for this position. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE. Pay is determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, locations, and contracts.
