Barnes Aerospace has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a Quality Manager, QMS & Process Excellence to lead the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of harmonized Quality Management System processes across our global aerospace portfolio. This enterprise role combines global process ownership with regional Quality partnership, serving as the principal Quality point of contact for either North America or Europe/Asia Operations leadership. The successful candidate will translate business, customer, and regulatory requirements into practical, scalable processes that strengthen compliance, improve operational performance, and enable consistent execution across sites.
This position is remote within the US with 15-25% anticipated travel.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, harmonization, deployment, and continuous improvement of the Barnes Aerospace Quality Management System across multiple global sites.
- Own assigned enterprise Quality processes and associated standards, procedures, tools, training requirements, and performance measures. Process portfolios may include nonconformance/MRB, CAPA, change management, document control, customer escapes, control of nonconforming outputs, Quality data, and management review.
- Translate customer, regulatory, and business requirements into practical, scalable QMS processes that support AS9100/AS9110, AS13100, applicable aviation-authority requirements, and customer-specific requirements.
- Define and maintain global QMS architecture, harmonized procedures, process maps, roles/responsibilities, and minimum operating standards while supporting appropriate site-level flexibility.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Information Technology, and site Quality teams to define and deploy Quality-process requirements within ERP, MES, QMS, and related digital tools.
- Establish and monitor enterprise Quality metrics, process-effectiveness measures, trends, and risk indicators; provide clear analysis, recommendations, and management-review input to leadership.
- Lead cross-site process deployment, change management, communication, training support, and adoption activities; verify that implemented processes are effective and consistently applied.
- Identify systemic issues and best practices across sites; facilitate cross-site learning, corrective-action effectiveness, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Serve as the Regional Quality Business Partner and principal Quality point of contact for the assigned North America or Europe/Asia Operations President. Coordinate regional Quality priorities, process deployment, significant risks, and escalations.
- Build effective working relationships with Site Quality Managers, Site General Managers, and functional leaders. Provide functional process support and influence without assuming responsibility for daily site Quality execution.
- Support significant customer, regulatory, and certification activities as needed, particularly where enterprise process ownership, harmonization, or systemic risk is involved.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required, anticipated at approximately 15–25% of the time.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive Quality, manufacturing, engineering, or operational-excellence experience in a complex manufacturing environment; aerospace experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, or improving QMS processes across multiple sites, functions, or business units.
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100/AS9110, customer-specific Quality requirements, and applicable aviation regulations; familiarity with AS13100 is preferred.
- Working knowledge of CAPA, root-cause analysis, nonconformance control, document control, change management, management review, risk management, and Quality performance metrics.
- Experience translating business and Quality-process requirements into ERP, MES, QMS, or other digital-workflow solutions.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional change, influence without direct authority, and build alignment among Operations, Engineering, Quality, and business leadership.
- Strong analytical, project-management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to turn complex requirements and data into clear, actionable direction.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultures, time zones, and changing business priorities.
- Familiarity with FAA-regulated aerospace manufacturing or repair operations is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with QMS, ERP, MES, and business-intelligence tools is preferred.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant technical experience may be considered.
Salary: $110,000 - $172,000
