SummarySupport plant-wide quality improvement for automotive Body-in-White (BIW) stamped components and welded assemblies. Partner with Production, Engineering, Tooling, Maintenance, suppliers, and customers to resolve defects, support launches, and maintain compliance with engineering specifications, IATF 16949, and customer requirements.Core CompetenciesCustomer focus • BIW stamping and welding quality • Root cause analysis • GD&T and dimensional analysis • Statistical analysis • Cross-functional teamwork • Planning and accountabilityJob DutiesProvide daily quality support for BIW stamping, resistance spot welding, MIG welding, and assembly; investigate forming, dimensional, weld integrity, and weld nut or stud defects.Lead customer concern resolution and 8D investigations; verify occurrence and escape causes, implement corrective actions, and validate effectiveness.Coordinate containment, sorting, traceability, certification, and clean points across plant, supplier, customer, and in-transit inventory.Coordinate visual, destructive, and ultrasonic weld verification as applicable; review results with Welding Engineering and Maintenance to improve process stability.Verify fixture pins, clamps, error-proofing, and checking fixtures at defined frequencies; support gage calibration and dimensional reviews using drawings and CMM results.Maintain process flows, PFMEAs, Control Plans, inspection standards, and work instructions; lead PPAP and support APQP, trials, safe launch, and engineering changes.Conduct SPC, capability, MSA, and Gage R&R studies; perform audits, support supplier quality, and train inspection and production personnel.Track complaints, defects, scrap, rework, and containment costs; drive measurable improvements and support customer visits and assigned quality activities.RequirementsREQUIRED: Hands-on experience in both BIW metal stamping and welded assembly manufacturing, including resistance spot and MIG welding quality.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent education and experience; three to five years of automotive quality experience preferred.Working knowledge of IATF 16949, customer requirements, automotive core tools, GD&T, stamping dies, dimensional control, and structured problem solving.CQI-15, destructive and ultrasonic weld inspection, OEM quality portals, and ASQ CQE or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.Proficiency in Excel and quality data analysis; strong communication, organization, and ability to manage competing priorities.Working ConditionsOffice and manufacturing-floor work with required PPE and safety compliance. Customer or supplier travel, overtime, weekends, and support across shifts may be required.
