About the role
We are looking for an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) professional to support the testing and continuous improvement of EARN Books Practice Manager, our accounting practice management platform designed for accounting firms. This role requires someone who understands how an accounting practice operates and has strong hands-on experience using accounting practice management software, such as Xero Practice Manager (XPM), FYI, Karbon, APS, MYOB Practice Management, or similar platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive functional and workflow testing of EARN Books Practice Manager.
- Test key practice management functions including Clients, Jobs, Tasks, Workflow, Timesheets, Invoicing, Documents, Working Papers, Tax Returns, Annual Reports, Client Communication and Reporting.
- Test end-to-end workflows from a real accounting practice perspective.
- Identify bugs, workflow issues, inconsistencies and areas requiring improvement.
- Prepare clear test cases, test scenarios and defect reports.
- Perform regression testing following system updates and bug fixes.
- Work closely with developers and the product team to reproduce, document and resolve issues.
- Review the system from both accountant and practice-management perspectives and recommend practical improvements.
- Help ensure the software is reliable, intuitive and suitable for day-to-day use by accounting practices.
About you
- At least 3 years of solid, relevant experience working with accounting practice management software.
- Strong knowledge of accounting firm workflows and practice-management processes.
- Experience with Xero Practice Manager (XPM) or comparable accounting practice management systems is highly desirable.
- Previous QA, software testing, implementation, systems support or accounting technology experience.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify workflow and usability issues.
- Ability to clearly document bugs, expected outcomes and recommended improvements.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with developers and accounting professionals.
- Accounting, bookkeeping or accounting-practice experience will be highly regarded.
