Nex is hiring a QA Engineer in Hong Kong (onsite) to test motion-based games on the Nex Playground console — creating test plans, running functional, regression, usability, localization and device testing in real living-room conditions, and writing clear bug reports. Requires 1–2 years QA/IT experience, strong attention to detail, and English fluency; motion-gaming background not required.
Nex is on a mission to help families rediscover the joy of movement. Created by parents for parents, Nex combines technology and play to deliver fun, social, and interactive experiences powered by natural body motion, encouraging kids and adults to move more, play more, and have fun together. Nex Playground, the company’s award-winning active play system, is purpose-built to get families moving year-round, with safety and privacy as core considerations in its intentional design. It is certified kidSAFE+ COPPA compliant and built to support healthy, active play for all ages and abilities.
Nex Playground features a growing library of 50+ experiences, including motion and dance games, fitness and educational experiences, and Nex Originals. Content includes collaborations with partners like Hasbro, Sesame Workshop, and NBCUniversal. Nex has been recognized by Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, TIME’s Best Inventions, and Parents’ Best Entertainment System for Families, and has earned Red Dot, IDEA, and Core77 international design awards. We encourage you to explore Have Fun and Is Motion Gaming Back?, as they offer a deeper look into our culture, values, and explain how our approach to motion gaming differs from previous generations.

The Role
We’re looking for a QA Engineer who loves games, sweats the details, and enjoys learning new technology. Motion-based QA is different from traditional game QA: you’ll test with your whole body in real-world environments (lighting, room sizes, player heights, 1–4 players, etc.). Prior motion-gaming experience is not required—strong QA fundamentals and a learning mindset are.
What You'll Do
- Create and execute test plans and test cases for motion-based games and the Nex Playground experience.
- Validate core player experience for living-room play: onboarding, clarity, responsiveness, and “is this fun and understandable?”
- Test motion-game fundamentals such as responsiveness/latency, recognition consistency, occlusion handling, and edge cases.
- Perform functional, usability, regression, localization, and device/compatibility testing across the product surface area.
- Write excellent bug reports with clear repro steps, expected vs. actual results, environment details, and short video captures when helpful.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: clarify requirements, ask good questions, and flag risk areas early.
What We're Looking For
- 1–2 years of experience in IT or the game industry (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Hands-on comfort with hardware and TV setups, including basic troubleshooting (network, setup flows, updates)
- Willingness to perform physical movements during testing and appear in internal test recordings.
- A genuine interest in games and player experience—especially party/family-friendly titles.
Nice to Have
- Cantonese and/or Mandarin fluency
- Experience testing camera-based, motion, AR, or computer vision products.
- Experience testing multiplayer/local co-op or party games.
- Familiarity with Unity, Android-based hardware, or mobile gaming.
- Experience setting up consumer electronics (TVs, consoles, streaming devices).
- Experience with test automation or scripting (even small personal projects).
We Offer
- Competitive compensation package.
- Flexible working hours and vacation policy.
- Product-driven culture that treasures talents and individual growth.
- Front-row seat and hands-on experience with cutting edge technologies in the evolving gaming field
