QA Engineer at Forward Financing, a small-business lending fintech. Day to day: design automated end-to-end tests (APIs and SPAs), build evaluation frameworks for AI/LLM-powered features, and embed quality checks into CI/CD as the team shifts from manual testing to automation. Tools include Postman, Playwright, Jira, and Datadog, with Salesforce-adjacent integrations.
Forward Financing is a financial technology company based in Boston, Massachusetts with team members throughout the United States, Dominican Republic, and Canada. The company is on a mission to unlock the capital that fuels small businesses across America. Recognized as a Best Place to Work by Built In Boston and certified as a Great Place To Work®, Forward is investing in its employees, technology, and customer experience – with long-term success in mind every step of the way.
At Forward, we're building a world-class fintech platform to empower small businesses. Our engineering team isn't just a support function, we're a core driver of the business. We use data from dozens of third-party vendors to fuel our AI/ML initiatives and create a more sophisticated financial ecosystem. We need a QA Engineer to help build and execute the testing strategy that supports our architectural vision and our next phase of growth.
We're growing our QA team and looking for a QA Engineer to help ensure quality across our integrated platform and our expanding portfolio of AI-powered workflows. Our underwriting, servicing, and customer operations all flow through Salesforce and a connected ecosystem of internal services and increasingly, LLM-driven features that require a different kind of rigor to test well.
This is a great opportunity to grow your QA craft in a fast-paced fintech environment: building out automation coverage, applying modern AI-powered testing tools, and helping raise the bar on quality across the team. You'll take ownership of testing critical workflows end-to-end, contribute to our shift from manual testing toward a comprehensive automation suite, and help ensure the reliability and security our customers depend on. We need someone who thinks in frameworks, pipelines, and repeatable systems rather than manual regression checklists. You'll work closely with our QA lead, senior QA and engineering to shape how we test, not just execute against a plan handed to you.
Design and maintain automated end-to-end tests for our ecosystem of internal and external systems
Apply evaluation frameworks for AI and LLM-powered features — helping define what "good output" looks like for the workflows you own, catching regressions in prompt behavior, and testing the non-determinism that comes with generative AI
Partner with engineers to embed testing into CI/CD pipelines so quality signals surface early, not at release time
Contribute to a growing quality culture by sharing testing practices with engineers and following the standards that help the team scale
Practice shift-left testing in your own work, and help engineers on your team do the same
Required
2–4 years in QA or test engineering, with meaningful time spent in automation-first environments
Proficiency in test automation including APIs and SPAs
Familiarity with tools like Postman, Playwright, Jira, Datadog or equivalent
Experience testing third-party implementations and Salesforce-adjacent integrations
Genuine interest in AI and a desire to go deep on how to test it well and use it to test
A strong desire to take ownership of your work, collaborate with teammates, and strengthen a business through quality products
Experience building relationships and collaborating with engineers and product managers
Comfort working through ambiguity as processes and standards are still being defined
Deep curiosity and a self-starter attitude
Nice to Have
Experience with low-code/AI-assisted test automation platforms (ex. Mabl, Tricentis Tosca, Katalon Studio, Testsigma, and Leapwork)
Prior startup experience
Exposure to testing AI or LLM outputs — prompt evaluation, output grading, regression testing for generative systems, or similar
Fintech or regulated-industry exposure
Solid technical skills: ability to read application code, understanding of software testing architecture, and experience with CI/CD, Git, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
