Product Manager – Cryogenic Control

Quantum Machines is a global leader in hybrid control systems for quantum computing, a field on the verge of exponential growth. Our innovative hardware and software offer a groundbreaking approach to controlling quantum computers, scaling from individual qubits to arrays of thousands. At the heart of QM is a passionate, ambitious team committed to transforming the construction and operation of quantum computers. Our deep understanding of customer needs drives us to deliver unmatched solutions in this revolutionary field.

Quantum Machines is establishing a dedicated Cryogenic Control team as part of our Cryo Product Line. We are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded Product Manager & Team Lead to define this emerging product area and build the team that will deliver it.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of quantum technology, cryogenic electronics, semiconductor development and product strategy. You will help turn emerging technologies into products that solve real scaling challenges for quantum-computing customers.

About the Role

As Product Manager & Team Lead for Cryogenic Control, you will own the direction, product strategy and development of Quantum Machines’ cryogenic control activities.

You will lead a small, highly specialised team working on the evaluation, testing and productisation of cryogenic electronics. A key initial objective will be to establish the right technology and commercial partnerships to productise a cryogenic multiplexer and the associated carriers, packages and test infrastructure as a first step.

You will work closely with quantum physicists, system architects, electronics engineers, packaging specialists, semiconductor partners, foundries, customers and commercial stakeholders.

The role requires someone who can understand the physics and engineering well enough to make informed product decisions, while maintaining a strong focus on customer value, market development and commercial execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the product vision, strategy and roadmap for Cryogenic Control together with Architecture and Research.
• Develop a deep understanding of customer architectures, quantum-control use cases and system-scaling challenges.
• Identify where cryogenic electronics can create meaningful technical and commercial value.
• Translate quantum-system requirements into clear product and technology priorities.
• Lead the Cryogenic Control team and establish an effective, ambitious and collaborative working environment.
• Build the team’s technical capabilities, processes and external network.
• Identify, assess and develop partnerships with cryogenic-electronics suppliers, semiconductor companies, fabless design organisations, foundries and research institutions.
• Drive the selection, evaluation and testing of cryogenic electronic technologies.
• Lead the productisation of a cryogenic multiplexer together with external technology partners and QM Cryo packaging group.
• Build business cases, market assessments, pricing strategies and commercialisation plans.
• Represent the Cryogenic Control area internally and externally.

Requirements

We expect you to have a strong technical foundation in one or more of the following areas:

• Quantum measurement or quantum-control systems.
• Cryogenic electronics.
• Integrated-circuit design, validation or application engineering.
• Mixed-signal, RF or microwave semiconductor products.
• Semiconductor product development.
• Advanced electronic-system validation.
• Quantum-computing hardware or measurement infrastructure.

Experience from a commercial technology organisation is highly valuable. You may currently work in product management, product strategy, applications engineering, semiconductor development, quantum technology or technical business development.

Previous product-management experience will help you move quickly in the role, but we are also interested in candidates with strong technical and commercial judgement who are ready to take broader product ownership.

What You Bring

• The technical confidence to make and own decisions in a complex quantum-technology environment.
• The ability to navigate quantum use cases and understand how technology choices influence system-level performance.
• Enough physics understanding to engage credibly with physicists and quantum engineers.
• Strong commercial judgement and business acumen.
• The ability to connect scientific possibilities with customer needs and viable products.
• Experience working across engineering, research, commercial and leadership teams.
• The ability to evaluate technologies that are still developing and may not yet have established specifications, supply chains or markets.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with customers, researchers, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
• The ability to establish direction where the path is not yet fully defined.
• Curiosity, openness and the willingness to challenge assumptions.

Experience with fabless semiconductor development, foundry processes, technology transfer, semiconductor packaging or outsourced manufacturing would be an advantage.
