Position SummaryThe Product Design Engineer I creates and maintains 3D models and 2D drawings for Watlow products, including flanged heaters, pressure vessels, duct heaters, and screw plug heaters. This role focuses on executing design work within standard platforms, using established options while working under guidance, building core skills in CAD, GD&T, Watlow drafting standards, and business processes while supporting safe, compliant, and manufacturable designs.Key ResponsibilitiesConvert customer requirements into 3D SolidWorks models and 2D drawings using standard templates and following Watlow standards.Prepare ASME engineering calculations in support of individual designs.Create and maintain part numbers and bills of materials in company ERP system.Coordinate with product engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, and operations to produce agency compliant and manufacturable designs.Assist in troubleshooting product design related issues in manufacturingQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relatedProficiency with 3D CAD (preferred: SolidWorks)Basic Excel and general computer skillsTraining & DevelopmentPrimarily on-the-job trainingWill work closely under the guidance and mentorship of more senior team membersWork EnvironmentOffice and CAD workstation environment with frequent collaboration via Teams/Outlook across sites within same time zone.Occasional time on the shop floor to review builds, understand manufacturability, and close the loop on design issues.Why JoinOpportunity to support growing product platforms and see your designs being built just steps away.TimelinePosition is to backfill for a team member’s retirement anticipated within 12 months.
