The Process Engineer is responsible for innovation and improvement in our injection molding and extrusion operations. This is a hands-on position that works collaboratively with our team to define and develop safe and effective manufacturing process methods, parameters, and procedures. Troubleshoots process problems with logical engineering and scientific practice.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs complex research and analysis tasks to determine feasibility of design.
- Involved in the selection of the appropriate and cost-effective manufacturing engineering tools and machines.
- Implements appropriate statistical process controls on key input and process variables.
- Investigates manufacturing costs and appropriate design process adjustments and improvements.
- Determines equipment requirements to ensure equipment is compatible with process.
- Selects new manufacturing processes and may introduce new equipment to existing process.
- Provides technical assistance to manufacturing to implement new technology.
- Follows existing documentation practices and continuously looks for improvements.
- Operates under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.
- Demonstrates understanding, support and consistent application of our Vision, Mission and Core Values.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 3 years’ experience in injection molding process engineering. Able to understand and perform set-ups and mold changes in an injection molding facility strongly desired. Experience with thermoplastic extrusion, thermoset and high modulus materials is a plus. Lean 6σ Green Belt certification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with enterprise system (ERP) utilizing standard cost.
- Must have ability to work in a team environment with other departments such as Production and Materials Management.
- Ability to analyze situations and determine logical and reasonable solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal with team members and all levels of the organization.
- Scientific process molding development principles & Design of Experiment (DOE) execution.
- Good knowledge of setting up and basic function of Robots, Sprue pickers, End of Arm Tooling & Mold temperature control
- Must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven project and time management skills; strong knowledge of mold set-up process.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Must have a high level of attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of materials and material requirements.
- Ability to promote continuous change priorities while achieving desired results.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve set goals on time.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Equipment Used
This position is located in a manufacturing facility which requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, squatting, twisting, and bending. This position requires significant time spent on the production floor. Requires lifting up to 50 lbs. May require working in excess of 40 hours a week with flexibility to support any shift as needed.

Salary: $98,000-$120,000 annually
