Talent Army is recruiting a Principal Data Analyst for a New Zealand public sector organisation in Wellington on a fixed-term contract to June 2027. You'll turn ambiguous questions about communities, services and investment into decision-ready evidence, lead analytical approaches, and communicate findings to senior decision-makers.

You’ll lead analytical approaches, work with complex and imperfect data, challenge assumptions and communicate what the evidence means to senior decision-makers. You’ll also help turn successful analysis into repeatable methodologies and scalable analytical products.

Skills & Experience
- Significant analytical experience, ideally within the NZ public sector
- Proven ability to frame ambiguous problems and develop robust analytical approaches
- Experience with complex administrative, social-sector, funding, investment or service data
- Strong analytical judgement, statistical reasoning and quality assurance capability
- Exposure to outcomes measurement, evaluation, ROI/SROI or cost-benefit analysis is advantageous
- Confidence translating complex evidence into clear advice for senior audiences
- Principal-level leadership capability while remaining practical and hands-on
- Use evidence to influence meaningful social investment decisions
- Help determine what is working, where gaps exist and where investment could have greater impact
- Shape new analytical methodologies and products rather than simply maintain existing reporting
- Combine hands-on analysis with senior-level influence and analytical leadership
- Work across investment, services, communities and outcomes
- Wellington-based with flexible Work from Home options
- Fixed term to June 2027, with secondment arrangements potentially considered
